Requirements
  • A minimum of five years’ experience as an Energy Technician or Journeyman/Master-level Industrial Electrician is desired; CAT Energy Certified Analyst is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of the CAT product line; experience with other energy brands may also be considered.
  • Ability to complete technical start-up of diesel and gas engines, generator sets, automatic transfer switches, and standalone paralleling switchgear.
  • Availability to work overtime on site and in the field.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize fluid, constantly changing tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word documents and spreadsheets is preferred.
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license with fewer than three moving violations in the past three years, and ability to clear a federal background check.
  • Ability to demonstrate value-added customer-facing behavior for internal and external customers.
  • Problem-solving ability, including identifying and resolving problems promptly, gathering and analyzing information, developing alternative solutions, and using reason when addressing emotional topics.
  • Ability to read drawings, one-line diagrams, and specifications and discuss projects with contractors, engineers, and architects.
  • Ability to complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.
  • Experience with CAT Electronic Technician, SAP, DBS, Lotus Notes, and EOMP systems.
  • Ability to work in shop or machine environments, which may not be climate controlled, and at customer job sites.
  • Ability to perform standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, and lifting.
Responsibilities

  • Interpret and design custom control schemes, and develop schematics and operating instructions.
  • Apply knowledge of fuel systems, governing, excitation, and testing for engine-driven power generators.
  • Apply knowledge of protection schemes and their use within electrical systems.
  • Program CAT Energy controllers and third-party controllers.
  • Plan, estimate, and execute jobs in accordance with industry standards, prioritizing safety and profitability.
  • Apply electrical installation and safety knowledge and interpret and apply NEC NFPA 70 and NFPA 110 standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Use computers and other technology to complete job responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • CAT Energy Certified Analyst certification or qualification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word documents and spreadsheets is preferred.
