Requirements
  • Must be a United States citizen and able to obtain and maintain a thorough background check (Public Trust).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interpret and apply travel and accounting policies, methods, and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction across NSWC PCD.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience supporting government travel operations or working in a Department of Defense travel office.
  • Familiarity with Navy/NAVSEA financial and administrative systems.
Responsibilities
  • Review Defense Travel System travel authorizations and vouchers for completeness, accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with Joint Travel Regulations, DoD 7000.14-R, and Navy/NSWC PCD travel policies.
  • Process virtual conference travel in the Defense Travel System using the same standards as in-person travel.
  • Correct inaccurate or noncompliant Defense Travel System documents without altering the scope of travel or conference attendance.
  • Provide guidance on the Defense Travel System and government travel requirements by phone, email, or in person during business hours.
  • Assist travelers in completing authorizations and vouchers using government-provided systems.
  • Provide copies of Travel Advisories and answer questions about temporary duty travel, leave in conjunction with travel, and rental-car usage.
  • Supply travelers, approving officials, or Employee Services personnel with requested authorization or voucher information.
  • Research travel cost estimates using government-designated tools such as SATO and DTMO TraX.
  • Generate travel authorizations and vouchers in the Defense Travel System and prepare paper orders and vouchers when required.
  • Create purchase requests for non-Defense Travel System travel orders in NERP.
  • Obtain and maintain access to NERP.
  • Maintain access to additional Navy/NAVSEA systems such as SharePoint and PCD Web.
  • Archive official travel records in accordance with SECNAV M-5210.1 CH-1 and the Navy's records management system, currently HPE-RM.
  • Answer traveler questions regarding receipt requirements and proper upload procedures in the Defense Travel System.
  • Generate and analyze Defense Travel System reports and notify travelers of required corrections or actions, including unsubmitted vouchers, rejects, and unused tickets.
  • Review Government Official Passport application documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Update logs tracking actual costs for cross-organizational travelers and conference reimbursements.
