'Sesame Street' is getting a new movie at Netflix - here's everything we know so far.

'Sesame Street' is getting a new movie at Netflix - here's everything MEAWW know so far. Elmo and friends have more on the way as Netflix expands its 'Sesame Street' plans. PUBLISHED 1 HOUR AGO Elmo and his neighbors may be headed for a movie night. Netflix is developing a new 'Sesame Street' film with production company Rideback and Sesame Workshop. The project was announced on September 24 alongside an extension of Netflix's deal for the series through Season 62. For now, the movie has no announced plot, cast, director or release date. Ad ends in 20 Netflix has not said which characters will appear or whether the film will play in theaters before streaming. No writer has been named, either. Rideback and Sesame Workshop are the only companies identified as working on the project. Viewers waiting for a first look or trailer have few clues about the story. There is a clearer schedule for the show. Volume 4 of 'Sesame Street' Season 57 will arrive on Netflix on November 23, with Volumes 5 and 6 following in 2027. The extended agreement covers new seasons through Season 62, though Netflix has not set dates for those later seasons. The upcoming episodes will give families more to watch while the film takes shape. The CGI animated spinoff 'Mecha Builders' is also coming to Netflix on October 26. It features animated versions of Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby. The series originally debuted in 2022, so the October date marks its Netflix arrival rather than its first premiere. The spinoff joins the flagship series as another part of the streamer's 'Sesame Street' collection. Netflix began streaming new 'Sesame Street' episodes under an earlier agreement with Sesame Workshop. Those episodes also remain available on PBS stations and PBS KIDS platforms in the US, where children can watch them for free. Netflix added a collection of more than 100 past episodes and specials in June. The movie extends that partnership beyond the television series, but Netflix has not said when more film details will arrive. The announcement is part of Netflix's broader expansion of programming for younger viewers. Kids and family titles accounted for 15% of its total viewing hours in the first half of 2026, according to the company. The movie remains in development, with its story and release plans still under wraps.

Netflix shares first look at darker Hunchback of Notre Dame reimagining.

Netflix shares first look at darker Hunchback of Notre Dame reimagining. Darker, grittier, and a new twist. This is the new description of the upcoming take on The Hunchback of Notre Dame. A new take on a familiar story. Everyone is familiar with the family, friendly animated cartoon but this new remake is going to be different. Netflix has revealed the first images from The Hunchback, Soul of Paris, a French-language film inspired by Victor Hugo's Quasimodo. The new feature connects to Disney's 1996 animated classic, but it takes the story in a much darker direction. Directed by Jean-François Richet, the movie stars Vincent Cassel as the hunchback. Rather than retell the animated film's musical tale with silly characters and fun music, the Netflix production draws on the account of a real stone carver who may have inspired Hugo's character. The story unfolds in Paris during the July Revolution of 1830, where the central character faces a dangerous pursuit. First images. Four newly released photos introduce several characters. One shows Cassel in his transformation for the lead role. Benjamin Voisin appears as a doctor seeking to capture the hunchback for medical experiments. Daphné Patakia is also featured, though her role has not been disclosed. Another image shows Karim Leklou as the Director of Security, who leads the search through the city's plague-stricken streets. The images show, or imply, a chase through the city, giving the film a very different atmosphere from Disney's colorful animated adaptation. Fans should not expect gargoyles, songs, and fantasy in this version. How to watch. The Hunchback, Soul of Paris is 1 hour and 43 minutes long and is described as a survival thriller. It focuses on a vulnerable man trying to escape those who want to capture him, rather than a slow, romantic retelling of Hugo's novel. Netflix plans to release the film worldwide on November 27, 2026. Viewers can see the new version streaming later this year. TBD. Stay tuned and follow along with us at MickeyBlog to stay updated on this and all things Disney. Feature Photo: Netflix

A new Sesame Street movie is coming to Netflix - and Gabby's getting two more shows.

A new Sesame Street movie is coming to Netflix - and Gabby's getting two more shows. Jamie Slack September 24, 2026 Elmo is getting a movie. Netflix announced a new Sesame Street film on September 24, and that is only the beginning of a surprisingly packed slate for kids. There are two new shows from the Gabby's Dollhouse world, a crew of puppy pirates, more dinosaurs and new games, too. Here are the actual dates parents can put on the calendar - and what still has no release date. My latest videos. A new Sesame Street film is in development. Netflix says it is developing a Sesame Street film with Sesame Workshop and Rideback. Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby are among the familiar faces the company mentions, though it has not announced a plot, cast or release date for the movie. It is a development announcement, so do not plan movie night just yet. The series deal also extends through Season 62. Season 57 Volume 4 arrives November 23; Volumes 5 and 6 are slated for 2027. The animated Sesame Street Mecha Builders comes to Netflix October 26. Gabby's Dollhouse gets two new shows. Gabby's sister Doozie leads Doozie's Doghouse, a new mixed-media companion series premiering November 9. If your house has already been taken over by Gabby, apparently there is room for a doghouse, too. On December 9, Gabby's Dollhouse: Makers and Bakers debuts with four holiday episodes. Laila Lockhart Kraner hosts as Gabby while pairs of young makers and bakers compete in craft and baking challenges. Aidy Bryant, Justin Willman and Melissa Villaseñor judge; Netflix says more episodes will follow in 2027. Puppy Pirates and bad dinosaurs are coming. Puppy Pirates is a new series from Matthew Fernandes about four dogs who sail off to retrieve lost treasures and beloved stuffies. Netflix has announced the show but has not given it a premiere date. Bad Dinosaurs has been renewed for Seasons 2 and 3, with eight episodes in each season. Premiere dates were not included in the announcement. Three Netflix Playground games have dates. * Numberblocks: Hide and Seek - September 29. * KPop Demon Hunters: Ready, Set Shine - September 29. * A new Trash Truck game - October 27. Netflix says Playground is included with a membership, works offline, and has no in-app purchases. It is designed for children eight and under. There is also a calmer way to browse. Netflix has launched a low-stimulation collection featuring slower-paced choices such as Trash Truck, Puffin Rock and Llama Llama. Its All-Star Preschool and Ultimate Kids playlists are available now, and a new The Creature Cases episode of Bedtime Stories with Netflix Jr. is out as well. The movie is the biggest surprise here, but the useful bit for families is the schedule: October 26 for Mecha Builders, November 9 for Doozie, November 23 for more Sesame Street, and December 9 for Gabby's baking and crafting show. The film and Puppy Pirates still need premiere dates.

Netflix resumes JoJo Steel Ball Run episodes this week.

Netflix resumes JoJo Steel Ball Run episodes this week. By Khalidah Nordin September 25, 2026 Netflix confirmed the return of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run with new episodes beginning this Friday, September 25, ending a six-month hiatus since the series' premiere. New episodes resume the Bizarre cross-country race. The anime adaptation of Hirohiko Araki's seventh manga part launched on March 19 with a 47-minute special episode, introducing main competitors and the start of a peculiar horse race from San Diego to New York. Now, during the fall 2026 anime season, the 2nd and 3rd STAGE will continue as Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli face off against unusual rivals like Pocoloco, whose perception of reality is significantly altered. Behind the Steel Ball Run competition lies something far more mysterious than simply reaching New York first. Weekly release schedule through December. The second episode premieres Friday, September 25, available in Mexico on Netflix starting at 2:00 AM CDMX time. Unlike the initial launch, Netflix announced 11 new episodes corresponding to the 2nd and 3rd STAGE, with a new episode releasing every Friday through December 4. The full schedule includes Episode 3 on October 2, Episode 4 on October 9, Episode 5 on October 16, Episode 6 on October 23, Episode 7 on October 30, Episode 8 on November 6, Episode 9 on November 13, Episode 10 on November 20, Episode 11 on November 27, and Episode 12 on December 4. This structured rollout contrasts sharply with the uncertainty that followed the first episode's release, when Netflix initially provided no timeline for continuation. Director acknowledges fan pressure. The lack of information after the premiere sparked unusual protests from fans, who flooded the streaming platform's social media posts with questions about Episode 2, along with memes and an unsettling image of Johnny Joestar holding a clock demanding updates. Even series director Yasuhiro Kimura admitted he didn't know when the next episode would air, though months later Netflix clarified that the distribution schedule was part of the production committee's plan, confirming September for the return. Desert journey introduces dangerous mysteries. Set in 1890 America, Steel Ball Run follows hundreds of participants competing in a horse race across the country, with the winner receiving 50 millones de dólares. Among the riders is Johnny Joestar, a former jockey who lost feeling in his legs, whose life changes when he meets Gyro Zeppeli, a mysterious competitor using steel balls that spin at high speeds through a technique called Spin. After touching one of these weapons, Johnny feels sensation in his legs for the first time since his paralysis, sparking his determination to uncover the secret behind Gyro's technique. The upcoming episodes will cover the 2nd STAGE, a roughly 1,200-kilometer journey across the desert featuring a dangerous area known as the Devil's Palm, where strange events reveal hidden motives surrounding the race. New characters including Mountain Tim, Hot Pants, and Funny Valentine, the President of the United States, will play significant roles in the story's development. The 2nd and 3rd STAGE also introduce characters that will have important roles in the story, among them Mountain Tim, Hot Pants and Funny Valentine, president of the United States. For viewers in Mexico wanting to catch up before joining the race, Netflix offers previous JoJo's Bizarre Adventure parts from Phantom Blood through Stone Ocean. Although Steel Ball Run takes place in a different continuity, understanding earlier parts helps explain the origin and mechanics of Stands, the primary supernatural abilities used throughout the series. Additionally, Steel Ball Run reintroduces familiar names from earlier arcs, but reimagines them within this new continuity, giving them altered backgrounds and motivations that reflect the story's unique timeline and setting.
