Requirements
  • Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current or willingness to obtain licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner; previous clinical experience will be considered.
  • Experience working in emergency or urgent care.
  • Knowledge of home and community health services.
  • Family All Ages (FAA) certification.
  • Experience practicing in a rural setting.
  • Clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
  • Leadership qualities and problem-solving skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong computer and technology skills to deliver virtual care through technology.

  • Satisfactory background screening result.
  • Own computer system with two monitors, USB headset, webcam, and high-speed internet connection to connect through a virtual private network.
Responsibilities
  • Assess client presentations, evaluate urgency of care needed, select the appropriate level of care, facilitate referrals where appropriate, and determine required follow-up.
  • Assess, diagnose, and prescribe independently and collaboratively in accordance with professional standards, legislation, policies, and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Coordinate treatment plans and follow-up based on assessments, client and family response, and outcomes, collaborating with healthcare professionals when needed.
  • Communicate findings and diagnoses to clients and the interprofessional team; discuss prognosis, treatment options, and outcomes; and document information in the client’s permanent health record.
  • Advocate for clients by assessing their needs and, when applicable, referring them to appropriate care providers, professionals, or other services within the continuum of care.
  • Follow best-practice guidelines.
