Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities, is required.
  • The candidate must have strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • The candidate must be proficient with accounting and financial systems.
  • The candidate must have advanced experience with Microsoft Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
  • The candidate must have experience with treasury operations, including management of cash, bank accounts, and related reconciliations.
  • The candidate must have hands-on experience with multi-state payroll requirements and be able to review payroll registers and identify state-specific discrepancies.
  • The candidate must be able to lead, coach, and develop team members with diverse professional strengths.
  • The candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • The candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must work hands-on, demonstrate attention to detail, and drive change in a dynamic environment.

  • The candidate must be reliable and able to work independently and collaboratively within a hybrid remote and in-office team environment.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounts payable operations, ensuring timely and accurate invoice processing and disbursements in accordance with company policies and internal control procedures.
  • Oversee the firm's cash flow and treasury functions, including liquidity monitoring, cash forecasting, and implementation of cash management strategies and policies that safeguard funds and uphold financial stability and liquidity targets.
  • Maintain and implement internal control systems and enforce accounting policies and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Work with the Payroll Manager to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with current federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Review the semi-monthly multi-state payroll register for accuracy and compliance before payroll submission.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and reporting for departmental managers and office administrators.
  • Drive process improvements and streamline accounting operations, incorporating artificial intelligence and automation when appropriate to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participate in special projects assigned by the Controller, including system upgrades and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Monitor progress toward team goals, ensure accountability, and keep the department aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Supervise the Accounting Manager and Payroll Manager.
  • Provide interpersonal guidance, coaching, and professional development support for direct reports.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a professional services environment is preferred.
  • A Certified Public Accountant credential or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency with accounting and financial systems such as Aderant, Workday, and Vena is strongly preferred; experience with Emburse is a plus.
