Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is required, with an emphasis in finance or accounting.
  • At least 6 years of experience in a financial analytical role is required, including specific experience in Gross-to-Net accounting and analysis.
  • An in-depth understanding of income statement analysis is required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities are required, including the ability to anticipate stakeholder needs and take prompt action.
  • Experience collaborating successfully with stakeholders and teams, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, is required.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills are required, including the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Strong computer literacy is required, including familiarity with database development and reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key finance business partner to the Sales team by providing financial insights, KPI reporting, and analytical support to achieve revenue, volume, and profitability objectives.
  • Drive commercial planning and financial forecasting and budgeting by developing in-month and forward channel-level forecasts by customer, accounting for variability in gross price, allowances, and material and conversion costs, and presenting the results to Business Unit and Channel management.
  • Deliver actionable financial insights, scenario analyses, and performance reporting to support strategic and operational business decisions.
  • Perform monthly analysis, including detailed variance analysis of volume and standard gross margin.
  • Integrate the Commercial Finance function into the company's digital strategy by expanding the use of digital tools such as OneStream Reporting and Tableau.
  • Assist with the annual rebate program process by coordinating with regional sales managers to understand, analyze, and recommend programs that support company growth.
  • Create and maintain a look-forward customer profitability model that pulls data from multiple locations to calculate forecasted customer profitability for the next 12 months and evaluates potential rebates and other items to calculate pro forma profitability.
  • Partner with Information Technology, Sales Operations, and Finance teams to improve data governance, reporting accuracy, and system integration across commercial processes.
  • Lead monthly Sales Incentive Plan tracking, performance analysis, accrual validation, and reporting.
  • Support the deployment and financial evaluation of corporate growth, pricing, and profitability initiatives across the sales organization.
  • Own commercial profit-and-loss analytics, including revenue, volume, gross margin, trade investments, rebates, and customer profitability.
Desired Qualifications
  • An MBA or Certified Public Accountant credential is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Experience supporting sales organizations, pricing strategy, customer profitability analysis, trade spending, rebates, and revenue growth management initiatives is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP and OneStream, or similar digital financial reporting tools, is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, Power Query, PivotTables, and data analysis, are preferred.

Novolex names new chief commercial transformation and strategy officer. Dan Debicella will work alongside Chuck Whittington, Novolex's chief transformation officer, who is due to retire. Packaging group Novolex has appointed Dan Debicella as chief commercial transformation and strategy officer. He will oversee the company's group-wide growth plan, help advance its commercial agenda and support integration work. Debicella will work alongside Chuck Whittington, Novolex's chief transformation officer, who is due to retire at the end of the year after more than 33 years at the company. Whittington will stay on during the handover period to support continuity in integration efforts. According to the company, Debicella will work with teams across the organisation to reinforce commercial functions and introduce more uniform sales processes, aiming to "accelerate" growth. Novolex CEO and chairman Stan Bikulege said: "Dan is a proven transformation leader who delivers measurable results. "He has strengthened commercial execution and scaled performance across multiple companies. He will sharpen our commercial capabilities and help us move faster, execute better and deliver stronger outcomes for our customers, employees and stakeholders." Debicella has more than 25 years of experience in transformation and growth roles in several industries. Most recently, he was president of the Graphics Solutions Division at SGS & Co. Before that, he oversaw enterprise strategy and commercial transformation efforts at Serta Simmons Bedding and Young's Market Company. Earlier in his career, Debicella worked at Bridgewater Associates, PepsiCo and McKinsey & Company on strategy and transformation programmes.
