Requirements
  • A PhD or Master's degree in bioengineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related field is required, along with at least five years of industry experience working in wet-lab environments.
  • Deep expertise in protein quantification and immunoassay methods, including ELISA, sandwich assays, flow cytometry, and bead-based assays, is required.
  • Experience with kit development, quality control under Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Laboratory Practice standards, and genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics technologies is required.
  • The candidate must be able to design, lead, and scale complex experiments and process development projects, including assay optimization, process characterization, robustness and validation studies, technology transfer, and work in regulated environments.
  • Hands-on experience with automation-enabled workflows and laboratory instrumentation, including liquid handlers, plate readers, washers, dispensers, and imaging systems, is required.
  • Strong data analysis skills using Python or an equivalent language are required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate leadership in mentoring and developing junior scientists and be able to work effectively in fast-paced environments involving scientific ambiguity, operational constraints, and scaling needs.
  • Strong English communication skills are required for collaboration with United States-based teams, partners, and vendors.
Responsibilities
  • Drive complex manufacturing-development initiatives and help define the technical roadmap covering process robustness, assay performance, automation readiness, kit manufacturing, quality-control architecture, scalability, and transfer readiness.
  • Convert ambiguous manufacturing or assay requirements into structured experimental and validation plans, and design and run campaigns using design of experiments, process characterization, robustness testing, failure mode and effects analysis, and scale-up or scale-down approaches.
  • Design and develop robust quality-control strategies, including in-process controls, lot-to-lot consistency, trend analysis, and pass/fail decision frameworks, and lead cross-functional root-cause investigations.
  • Collaborate across research and development, Operations, Automation, and Quality teams; maintain detailed documentation; and share data-driven reports, insights, and memos to align stakeholders and ensure development outputs are scientifically sound and operationally ready for transfer.
  • Independently analyze and interpret complex datasets combining assay performance, process parameters, quality-control trends, and operational metrics, and translate the results into actionable technical recommendations and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor scientists and associates by providing technical guidance on experimental design, troubleshooting, data interpretation, automation-aware process development, quality-control practices, and kit-manufacturing best practices.

Nplex Biosciences develops proteomics tools using nanotechnology, including the nELISA platform for high-throughput protein measurement. The platform uses DNA nanotechnology to identify proteins on micron-sized beads, enabling miniaturized, highly parallel immunoassays. It differentiates itself by combining DNA-based protein identification with bead-based assays and a scalable, cost-efficient workflow that lowers the cost of antibody-based proteomics. Its goal is to provide a reliable, scalable proteomics platform that supports drug discovery, biomarker discovery, and personalized medicine.
