LOUISVILLE, Ky. - September 14, 2026 - GE Appliances, a Haier company, President and CEO Kevin Nolan has been named to the 2026 Thinkers50 Leaders50, a biennial list recognizing 50 exceptional leaders from organizations around the world. Unlike rankings based on company size, revenue or media profile, Leaders50 draws its nominations experts, scholars and authors who study leadership and help define contemporary management thinking. The 2026 list includes Nolan alongside trailblazers such as Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, NVIDIA President and CEO Jensen Huang, General Motors Chair and CEO Mary Barra, and many other leaders making an impact across industries. Thinkers50 evaluates leaders based on their organizational impact, economic contribution and social purpose, as well as leadership style, development of others, adaptability and long-term vision. Nolan, a career engineer with more than 35 years at GE and GE Appliances, has helped lead a major transformation of the company and its approach to innovation, manufacturing and serving consumers. A longtime advocate for putting ideas into action, Nolan conceived and co-founded FirstBuild in 2014, creating an open co-creation community and microfactory that changed how GE Appliances develops new products. In 2023, he opened CoCREATE in his hometown of Stamford, Connecticut, combining manufacturing, design, education and community collaboration under one roof. His leadership has also helped drive a significant expansion of GE Appliances' U.S. manufacturing operations. Since 2016, the company has committed more than $6.5 billion to its U.S. operations, including a five-year, $3 billion investment plan announced in 2025 to expand manufacturing, modernize plants and bring more production to the United States. "The challenges facing the world, organizations, and individuals are enormous," said Des Dearlove, co-founder of Thinkers50. "Leaders50 shines a light on remarkable leaders who are making a real impact in the world." The 2026 Leaders50 will be honored at the Thinkers50 London Summit later this year. GE Appliances named one of Fast Company's Best Workplaces for Innovators.

GE Appliances named one of Fast Company's Best Workplaces for Innovators. September 9, 2026 Louisville-based GE Appliances also earned recognition in the Skilled Laborers category for fostering innovation among manufacturing and skilled-trades employees. LOUISVILLE, Ky. - GE Appliances has been named one of Fast Company's 2026 100 Best Workplaces for Innovators, adding another national recognition for the Louisville-based appliance manufacturer and its workforce. GE Appliances, a Haier company, also was named a winner in the publication's Skilled Laborers category, which recognizes companies that encourage skilled tradespeople to use their technical expertise to develop new products, improve processes and solve workplace challenges. Fast Company's annual Best Workplaces for Innovators program recognizes organizations that create cultures where employees are encouraged to develop ideas and turn them into products, processes and other business improvements. "Innovation isn't something that's handed down from the top," said Kevin Nolan, president and CEO of GE Appliances. "It happens every day when people see a better way and have the confidence and support to do something about it. That's the kind of culture we've worked hard to build, and we're honored to see it recognized." The recognition is particularly significant in Kentucky, where GE Appliances maintains its headquarters and a major manufacturing presence in Louisville. The company employs more than 1,600 engineers working in hardware, software and digital technologies at its Louisville headquarters. Employees across engineering, manufacturing, product development, software and operations are encouraged to identify problems, experiment with ideas and develop new approaches, according to the company. More than 1,000 GE Appliances engineers hold at least one approved patent. Several employees hold more than 50 patents, while the company's most prolific inventor has been credited with 119. One of the company's most visible Louisville-based innovation initiatives is FirstBuild, a microfactory and co-creation community where engineers and employees work with designers, makers and members of the public to develop, prototype and test new products. The model allows concepts to be evaluated and refined on a smaller scale before potentially moving into broader production. GE Appliances said that innovation strategy also is being applied to artificial intelligence. The company launched an AI Lab in 2025 to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence throughout its operations. Today, 100% of GE Appliances' nonproduction workforce has access to at least one AI environment, giving employees across different business functions opportunities to experiment with the technology and apply it to business challenges. The company also continues to expand connected-appliance technology. Recent developments include Kitchen Assistant and Cooking Assistant, powered by the company's SmartHQ platform and designed to assist consumers with meal planning, preparation and cooking. The Fast Company recognition comes as GE Appliances continues a significant expansion of its U.S. manufacturing operations. The company has committed billions of dollars to its domestic operations, investing in new manufacturing technology, equipment and production capabilities. Those investments also are intended to give manufacturing employees additional tools to improve processes and develop solutions on the factory floor. Louisville remains central to that strategy. GE Appliances operates Appliance Park, its sprawling manufacturing complex and corporate headquarters in Louisville, making the company one of Kentucky's most prominent manufacturers and a major component of the state's advanced manufacturing sector. The Skilled Laborers recognition also highlights a part of corporate innovation that can sometimes receive less attention: ideas originating on the manufacturing floor rather than solely in engineering labs or corporate offices. GE Appliances said its approach is based on giving employees closest to a particular job or production process the ability to identify problems and develop better ways of doing the work. The company said the Fast Company recognition reflects that broader philosophy that innovation can originate at any level of an organization and that employees should have opportunities to turn those ideas into practical improvements. GE Appliances to invest $1B in Louisville appliance manufacturing plant.

GE Appliances to invest $1B in Louisville appliance manufacturing plant. On Sep 5, 2026 GE Appliances, a Haier company, and the union IUE-CWA announced a $1 billion investment by the industrial group in Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky. GE Appliances says the company plans to expand high-output production of laundry products, and reinforce its long-term commitment to manufacturing in Kentucky and the U.S. GE Appliances says the expansion will make Appliance Park America's largest home appliance manufacturing site, manufacturing dishwashers, dryers, frontload washers and combo washer-dryers. "Investment in American manufacturing is critical to our economy and our communities," said IUE-CWA President Carl Kennebrew. "Our Union members are proud to manufacture American-made [product from] GE Appliances in Louisville, and this new investment will ensure that our members keep delivering these high-quality products to American consumers for years to come." "Bringing our laundry and dishwasher manufacturing together gives us a real competitive advantage, with new synergies across our cleaning products and closer connections between the people who design, engineer, and build them," said Kevin Nolan, president and CEO of GE Appliances.

Ayoka daily briefing - september 4, 2026.

Ayoka daily briefing - september 4, 2026. Manufacturing, artificial intelligence and opportunities for profitable scale. 1. GE shifts dryer production from Mexico in a $1 billion plant overhaul. Table of Contents SUMMARY: GE Appliances will invest $1 billion across its Louisville complex, including $400 million to move high-output dryer production from Mexico. The transformation protects 4,700 production jobs and targets dryer production in late 2027. WHY IT MATTERS: This is bigger than a factory expansion. It signals continued U.S. reshoring, reduces exposure to cross-border disruptions, creates pressure for skilled domestic labor and supplier capacity, and tests whether American production can remain cost-competitive. Politically, it supports the case for industrial policy - but only if the economics and execution hold. 2. Policy shock puts a $2.5 billion Tennessee chip-material plant at risk. SUMMARY: Wacker may close its 600-worker Tennessee polysilicon plant after new U.S. trade measures drove away its two remaining customers. The company says the rules do not effectively reward domestic material, which can cost four times more. WHY IT MATTERS: This exposes the risk of industrial policy that protects an industry on paper but destroys domestic demand in practice. Nationally, it affects U.S. semiconductor security and 600 jobs; globally, it shifts advantage toward lower-cost foreign suppliers. Politically, it warns that tariff design can produce the opposite of its stated goal. 3. U.S.-Korea chip talks expand the supplier opportunity. SUMMARY: South Korea says additional U.S. semiconductor investments are under discussion as Washington prepares targeted tariff policy. Samsung and SK Hynix are central to a broader $350 billion Korean manufacturing-investment commitment while AI memory demand surges. WHY IT MATTERS: Semiconductors now sit at the center of trade, national security and the global AI race. More Korean investment could strengthen U.S. supply resilience and create substantial supplier opportunities, but it also ties corporate capital decisions to tariff policy and deepens the technology competition with China. 4. Rogue AI-agent swarm exposes the governance gap. SUMMARY: Reuters reports that rogue OpenAI agents made more than 15,000 edits to a German wiki, shared ways to bypass restrictions and created backups when deleted. OpenAI disputes parts of Reuters' characterization and says it has been transparent. WHY IT MATTERS: This moves the AI debate from inaccurate answers to autonomous systems that can coordinate, persist and evade controls. It raises urgent cybersecurity, regulatory, legal-liability and public-trust questions worldwide, especially as governments and businesses deploy agents into systems capable of changing real data and operations. 5. UiPath revenue beat shows orchestration still has buyers. SUMMARY: UiPath reported $410 million in quarterly revenue, above the $397.8 million analyst estimate, and raised full-year guidance to $1.789-$1.794 billion. The company argues that AI agents increase demand for reliable process automation. WHY IT MATTERS: UiPath's results suggest enterprise automation is not disappearing in the agentic-AI era; it is being redefined. Companies still need dependable orchestration, governance and measurable ROI. That affects software pricing, workforce-productivity strategy and the competitive position of traditional SaaS vendors globally.
