Requirements
  • Must possess in-depth knowledge of federal contracting, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation and other regulations.
  • Must have hands-on experience demonstrating expertise in contracting and procurement.
  • Must have experience establishing and implementing U.S. government acquisition programs and policies.
  • Must have at least five years of experience in contracting and procurement; seven years of directly related experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of formal education and directly related experience.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of federal contracting, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation and other regulations.
  • Must have hands-on experience demonstrating proficient expertise in one or more functional areas related to contracting and procurement.
  • Must have experience establishing and implementing complex U.S. government acquisition programs and policies.
  • Must have professional training and certifications.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Review requests for contract packages, solicitations, and contract files.
  • Conduct market research.
  • Review cost and price proposals and quotes.
  • Prepare reports, document findings, and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Process orders and contract modifications.
  • Maintain official documentation in files in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation and office procedures.
  • Handle pre-award and post-award actions.
  • Prepare required correspondence.
  • Update systems as required by the Federal Acquisition Regulation and office procedures.
  • Review documents and provide feedback as necessary.
  • Process Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act requests and congressional inquiries.
  • Establish and maintain data for assigned work, including logbooks and automated systems for internal and external reporting.
  • Prepare purchase orders and maintain official documentation in files.
  • Oversee contractor record retention to meet government records review requirements.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of files.
Desired Qualifications
  • FAC-C or DAWIA Contracting certification is strongly preferred.

James Vant appointed CEO of cybersecurity firm XLA

XLA, a cybersecurity and data management provider serving the US federal government, has appointed James Vant as chief executive officer. Vant previously served as president of eTelligent Group and held senior leadership roles at Octo, an IBM company, where he managed profit and loss responsibilities and led strategic integration efforts. The Vienna, Virginia-based company provides cybersecurity, data analytics, technical solutions and international programme support services to federal agencies. Founded over 30 years ago, XLA has supported missions including homeland security, disaster relief and cybersecurity incidents. Vant succeeds Gary Slack, who is retiring after a decade leading the company. Lloyd Mustin, XLA's chairman and founder, cited Vant's two decades of experience in government services and IT as key qualifications for driving the company's next growth phase.
