Requirements
  • A certificate in addiction studies, or a college diploma in nursing, specialized education, social work, or delinquency intervention, or a university degree in criminology, psychoeducation, psychology, social work, sexology, or nursing sciences.
  • The candidate must meet the academic qualifications required by the certification.
  • The candidate must pass a criminal background check including vulnerable sector screening, with results deemed satisfactory by The Salvation Army.
  • The candidate must be able to work under pressure and plan and organize work.
  • The candidate must communicate effectively, demonstrate interpersonal and listening skills, provide constructive feedback, adapt to changing situations, and work flexibly and professionally.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure service quality is adequate and complies with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Welcome and integrate residents into the service according to established procedures and enforce the resource’s code of conduct.
  • Provide individual follow-up for residents, keep their files current, and close files within the prescribed time after departure.
  • Conduct structured and regular individual interventions, including contributing to intervention plans and follow-up and/or developing and following up on social reintegration plans.
  • Take necessary measures to support residents’ progress while considering their medical, legal, and family situations.
  • Respond to events that arise in the center and write progress notes to ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Write observation reports, assessment reports, and behavioral summaries for the court.
  • Complete required assessments according to certification standards, including NID-ÉP, IGT, suicide and homicide risk, and RESO assessments.
  • Distribute medications according to established protocols.
  • Organize and lead workshops and activities according to residents’ needs and established standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with external and referral resources and involve the resident’s support network when possible.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and shift changes.
  • Ensure residents’ safety and tolerate ambiguity.
  • Perform other related duties at the request of the immediate supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual French and English, spoken and written.
  • Experience in intervention and crisis management.
  • A workplace first-aid certificate.
  • A valid driver’s license.
