About the job
- A nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider with the applicable Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant licensure and certification.
- APRNs must have an MSN upon hire or within three years of hire, graduate from an accredited APRN program, hold applicable Nurse Practitioner and registered nurse licenses, and maintain national Nurse Practitioner certification.
- PAs must graduate from an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program and hold a master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or a higher degree from a program recognized by the applicable licensing board.
- Nurse Practitioners must hold Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association; additional Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification may be required based on the work setting.
- Physician Assistants must hold certification through the NCCPA or successor organization, a license to practice and prescribe, a current DEA license or DEA designee as required by NCQA, and Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association; additional advanced life-support or trauma certification may be required based on the work setting.
- Nurse Practitioners must have arrangements with at least one physician as required by the applicable State Board of Nursing and be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and governing body of the applicable hospitals.
- Physician Assistants must have a Physician Supervision Agreement and signed addendum and be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and governing body of the applicable hospitals.
- The role requires oral and written communication in English.
- The role requires the ability to walk and stand for long periods, manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, corrected vision and hearing, and occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- The role may involve exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids and requires use of personal protective equipment according to standard precautions.
- Manage day-to-day operations in the neuro interventional radiology department.
- Conduct peri-operative patient evaluations.
- Assist in the operating room with neurovascular and acute stroke patients.
- Perform inpatient consults and follow-ups.
- Provide patient education.
- Perform lumbar punctures, subarachnoid drain placements, and first-assist duties in neurointerventional radiology procedures as opportunities arise.
- Work Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary based on business needs.
- Conduct medical histories and physical examinations where indicated, initiate appropriate laboratory, radiology, cardiographic, and other diagnostic tests, and review laboratory data to establish patient health status and develop diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Work with a collaborating physician.
- Perform and interpret routine laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic, and other diagnostic procedures to recognize deviations from normal, as privileged by the Cleveland Clinic Credentialing Board.
- Perform injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and evaluation and therapeutic procedures for illness and injury as privileged by the Cleveland Clinic Credentialing Board.
- Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority, applicable state licensing boards, and Cleveland Clinic policy.
- Perform specialized procedures including bone marrow aspirations, biopsies and harvest, blood draws, designated intravenous starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis, and paracentesis as directed by the physician and approved by the Cleveland Clinic Credentialing Board.
- Provide patients with information about their diseases, preventive health maintenance, treatments, and medication side effects and hazards.
- Participate in medical team rounds and collaborate regularly with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members.
- Refer patients to specialists and specialized healthcare resources as appropriate.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and members of the multidisciplinary care team or other specialty areas to ensure continuity of care.
- Perform research follow-up studies and assist in data analysis.
- Participate in quality monitoring through periodic review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes.
- Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning, and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management.
- Serve as a clinical preceptor for Physician Assistant and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse students and other health professionals when assigned.
- Serve as faculty for onboarding new employees when assigned.
- Advanced Practice experience in neurology, surgical, or acute care settings.
- Related clinical experience.

↑ 0%Cleveland Clinic has rolled out ambient AI scribes to approximately 5,000 providers following a successful pilot programme. The technology records, transcribes and summarises patient-physician conversations, reducing documentation time by two minutes per appointment and 14 minutes daily. In 2024, 250 physicians tested five ambient listening products. Cleveland Clinic selected Ambience's AI platform, and within 15 weeks of launch, 4,000 clinicians were actively using it. The system is now expected to document one million patient encounters by August 2025, with physicians using it for roughly 76% of scheduled office visits. The AI adapts to medical specialties and requires patient consent and physician review before entering electronic health records. Chief Digital Officer Rohit Chandra said the technology has restored "joy" to caregiving by reducing administrative burden.
Scientists at Cleveland Clinic, RIKEN and IBM have simulated protein complexes of up to 12,635 atoms using quantum computers — the largest-known simulations of biologically meaningful molecules performed with quantum hardware. The achievement signals quantum computers are maturing into useful scientific tools for biology, chemistry and life sciences research. The breakthrough was enabled by a novel algorithm that optimises collaboration between quantum and classical computers, a framework called quantum-centric supercomputing. The team captured the behaviour of two biochemically relevant proteins roughly 40 times larger than what the same method could achieve six months ago, whilst improving accuracy by up to 210 times. The research used IBM's 156-qubit Quantum Heron processors at Cleveland Clinic and RIKEN, working alongside supercomputers Fugaku and Miyabi-G, to model molecular systems relevant to drug discovery.
Cleveland Clinic has partnered with Luminai, a San Francisco-based AI startup, to automate complex administrative healthcare workflows. The collaboration coincides with Luminai's $38 million Series B funding round, bringing total capital raised to approximately $60 million, with backing from Peak XV Partners, General Catalyst, Define Ventures and Y Combinator. The health system, which employs over 80,000 staff across 23 hospitals, selected Luminai to address administrative burdens that account for roughly a quarter of US healthcare spending. Initial deployment focuses on referral management, where Cleveland Clinic processes thousands of daily faxes requiring manual review and routing. "The goal is to reduce administrative burden and allow our caregivers to focus on patient care," said Rohit Chandra, Cleveland Clinic's chief digital officer. The partnership reflects growing pressure on health systems to modernise operations whilst managing workforce shortages and rising costs.
Medtronic has announced the first US commercial surgery using its FDA-cleared Hugo robotic-assisted surgery system, successfully performed at Cleveland Clinic by Dr Jihad Kaouk. The robotic-assisted prostatectomy patient was discharged the following day. The Hugo RAS system features a mobile footprint with modular arms designed to address operating room scheduling challenges and infrastructure limitations. The system aims to expand access to minimally invasive surgery, which offers benefits including reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays and decreased recovery time compared to open surgery. Cleveland Clinic, Duke University Hospital and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center are among the first US hospitals to install the system. The Hugo RAS system is available in over 35 countries. Medtronic plans to expand indications beyond urology into gynaecologic and general surgery procedures.
