Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A two-year degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • Eight or more years of experience in electrical conceptual estimating, low-voltage estimating, National Electrical Code requirements, and design/build estimating is preferred.
  • Strong computerized estimating skills using electrical estimating software are required; experience with Accubid or Enterprise is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Bluebeam software for estimating and construction-related purposes is required.
  • Strong mathematical skills and Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, are mandatory.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned work is required.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a larger team is required.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret design drawings and specifications from civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines.
  • Schedule and participate in estimating kickoff meetings.
  • Perform pre-bid reviews with the Estimating Team and Chief Estimator.
  • Lead final bid reviews with the Estimating Team.
  • Prepare material and subcontractor quotations.
  • Review electrical and low-voltage systems specifications.
  • Review bid documents and attend pre-bid meetings and job walks to determine project scope.
  • Participate in interview preparation meetings and customer interviews, and respond to customer questions.
  • Participate in committee and department meetings.
  • Identify and develop estimating standards.
  • Estimate labor, materials, and administrative costs for projects.
  • Lead small teams of estimators preparing estimates for large projects.
  • Assist the Chief Estimator with scheduling estimating resources and planning for timely and accurate estimate completion.
  • Complete bid forms and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Create scopes of work describing inclusions, assumptions, and clarifications used in bid estimates.
  • Develop scopes of work and bid-leveling documents for soliciting quotes for third-party products and services, and level bidders to ensure complete scopes and accurate cost information.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and division leadership to develop opportunity-specific bid strategies.
  • Maintain detailed records of estimate revisions and supporting documents for open-book projects.
  • Verify completion of the estimator checklist.
  • Facilitate communication among Sales, Preconstruction, Designers, Project Managers, General Foremen, and others to resolve project issues.
  • Use estimating software to estimate projects, enter data, and perform takeoffs.
  • Assist with developing training and mentorship programs.
  • Develop and mentor talent.
