Requirements
  • Must be enrolled full-time at the University of Virginia as a graduate student in a master's or Ph.D. program.
  • Have excellent organizational skills, with an emphasis on notetaking, record-keeping, and scheduling.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have strong communication skills, with experience in written communications and social media.
  • Be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Have a valid driver's license or be willing to obtain one upon hire.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Art@Work Committee by scheduling meetings, taking notes, and retaining records.
  • Work with the Art@Work core team to manage the logistics of acquiring art with artists, storing and lending art, moving art with Facilities Management, and installing art with Facilities Management.
  • Maintain Art@Work's art lending library by arranging art deliveries, documenting acquired artworks, moving art to storage, drafting site host and loan agreements from templates, scheduling activities, and overseeing site installations.
  • Support Art@Work outreach by administering the email account, helping maintain the website, assisting with writing and publishing press releases and announcements, programming the Instagram account, and taking and delivering images of artworks in situ to artists.
  • Support finance and procurement operations by monitoring the budget and spending.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in arts administration or in libraries, archives, museums, or galleries.
  • Understanding of proper techniques for handling, packing, and storing fine art objects.
  • Familiarity with the University of Virginia's procurement and finance practices.
