- Greet, assist, and direct patients, visitors, and staff while following policies and procedures and addressing diverse customer needs.
- Receive and route patient and visitor requests, mail, and other items to appropriate personnel.

- Assist in orienting new staff to the unit regarding Nursing Unit Secretary duties, and maintain assignment boards and bulletin boards.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain patient medical records, ensuring compliance with policies and timely transfer to Health Information Management upon discharge.
- Compile, input, and file patient data and clinical documentation, including electronic medical record entries and discharge summaries.
- Maintain adequate supplies, forms, and equipment, and ensure the nursing station is clean, safe, and functional.
- Coordinate patient transfers, prepare necessary documentation, and fax records to relevant departments.
- Apply professionalism and customer service through positive communication and adherence to confidentiality standards.
- Complete assignments within scheduled hours, adhere to shift requirements, and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Demonstrate competence in technical skills, procedures, and equipment usage while staying current with policies and practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and recommend enhancements to departmental processes.
- Use sound judgment and help ensure patient safety.
- Follow organizational and departmental policies and guidelines, the code of conduct, and the employee handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- An associate degree in a healthcare-related field.
- One year of previous work experience as a Unit Secretary.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.

REHAB Hospital of the Pacific launches new Stroke Center of Excellence. Tuesday, May 12, 2026 When a stroke impacts an individual and family, choosing where to recover is a critical decision. For over 70 years, REHAB Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB) has served as Hawaii and the Pacific's only rehabilitation hospital. This May, in recognition of National Stroke Awareness Month, REHAB officially launched its new Stroke Center of Excellence (Stroke COE), providing an expert interdisciplinary team and therapy tailored specifically to the complex challenges of stroke recovery. An average of 3,275 Hawaii residents experience a stroke each year, making it the number one cause of chronic disability in the state, according to the Hawaii Department of Health. REHAB's Stroke COE sets a new standard for patient experience and fills the gap for seamless transitions across the full continuum of care. Where a patient goes for stroke recovery care truly matters. While skilled nursing facilities play an important role in the broader healthcare system, studies consistently show that - especially in serious cases of stroke - survivors treated at a rehabilitation hospital like REHAB regain more physical function and are significantly more likely to return home.
