Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a small engineering team, supporting its growth through coaching, mentoring and regular feedback.
  • Contribute directly to the codebase and lead engineering best practices while remaining hands-on.
  • Act as the technology owner for Spain, ensuring successful implementation and evolution of the platform within the local market.
  • Define solution architectures that leverage the global platform while addressing Spain-specific business, operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the technical implementation of new capabilities required for the Spanish business.
  • Coordinate internal engineering teams and third-party technology providers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
  • Evaluate, integrate and manage third-party providers supporting the lending ecosystem, including payments, Open Banking, customer communications, fraud prevention and collections.
  • Work with Product, Risk, Operations and Compliance teams to ensure technology solutions support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Support engineers through code reviews, pairing and technical guidance.
  • Participate throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring and production support.
  • Structure engineering delivery, including sprint planning, estimation and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery and operational resilience.
  • Provide second-line production support during business hours and troubleshoot issues affecting business operations and customers.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify architecture, improve platform scalability and increase operational efficiency.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience within consumer lending, retail banking or regulated financial services.
  • Understanding of the end-to-end lending lifecycle, including loan origination, servicing and collections.
  • Experience working with lending platforms rather than building products entirely from scratch.
  • Experience localizing global technology platforms for regulated markets.
  • Experience integrating Open Banking providers, payment providers, credit bureaus, identity verification, fraud prevention and collections platforms.
  • Experience evaluating and selecting third-party technology vendors.

  • Experience operating technology within regulated environments, including governance, auditability, information security and operational controls.

UK fintech Abound enters mortgage market with Ahauz acquisition

AI-powered credit technology company Abound has entered the mortgage market by acquiring Ahauz, a tech-driven lender specialising in shared equity mortgages. Financial terms were not disclosed. Ahauz will continue operating independently whilst leveraging Abound's capital and technology platform. Abound's AI system analyses customers' Open Banking data with their consent to assess affordability more accurately than traditional credit scores. The acquisition marks Abound's expansion beyond its existing credit technology services into the mortgage sector.

Abound raises $14M for NRI fintech.

Abound, a fintech startup, raised $14 million in seed funding led by NEAR Foundation, with participation from Circle Ventures and Times Internet. This marks Abound's first external investment since its incubation at Times Internet. The funds will accelerate its mission to create a financial bridge for non-resident Indians in the US and India.
