Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures, including applicable federal, state, and local codes.
  • Work independently and exercise sound judgment while using time efficiently.
  • Follow safety and security procedures.
  • Transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Operate office equipment, including computers and email.
  • Possess a TS/SCI security clearance or be actively seeking TS/SCI with an attained Secret clearance.
  • Work non-standard shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support a 24/7/365 mission-essential function.
Responsibilities
  • Perform operations and maintenance engineering for mechanical equipment and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, environmental controls, and utility systems, at a large and complex military installation.
  • Manage operations and maintenance plans and programs for mission-essential mechanical systems throughout the installation.
  • Develop or oversee plans, instructions, and specifications for repairing, modifying, maintaining, and operationally testing existing and new mechanical systems.
  • Investigate and analyze complex systems, materials, and equipment problems related to operations and maintenance.
  • Review mechanical designs and specifications for reliability, maintainability, and effectiveness.
  • Maintain current mechanical engineering data for operations and maintenance projects and programs.
  • Provide recommendations for short- and long-range replacement requirements for complex mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Perform preliminary mechanical engineering analyses for large and complicated projects.
  • Serve as a consultant on mechanical engineering aspects of operations and maintenance projects and provide support to trades and crafts shops.
  • Consult with contractors, Army Corps of Engineers personnel, architect and engineer firms, and contracting officers to resolve design-interface and regulatory issues and exchange information.
  • Coordinate projects with engineers in other disciplines and with architects.
  • Monitor and manage construction projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities from preconstruction site surveys through completion of as-built drawings.
  • Prepare and review designs for real property facility construction projects, determine design criteria, create cost estimates and time schedules, and prepare architect and engineer statements of work.
  • Coordinate and perform programming, design, construction management, and base-development functions secondary to operations and maintenance duties.
