Huawei Organisations across 14 European countries achieve ISO 37001 certification, strengthening industry trust through international standards and independent assessment.

Huawei Organisations across 14 European countries achieve ISO 37001 certification, strengthening industry trust through international standards and independent assessment. 19 October 2026 BSI presents ISO 37001 certificates and the Compliance Governance Excellence Award to Huawei at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 · FLORENCE. During HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 · FLORENCE, BSI (British Standards Institution) presented ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management Systems certificates to Huawei organisations across 14 European countries and presented Huawei Group with the Compliance Governance Excellence Award. During the event, Harold Pradal, President of BSI Assurance Services, delivered a keynote speech titled "From Compliance Trends to Trust: Integrity in a Changing World." He highlighted that international standards provide a common framework for responsible business conduct, while independent third-party assessments help strengthen stakeholder confidence, foster industry collaboration, and promote sustainable development. Huawei's ISO 37001 certification program across 14 European countries adopts international standards as a common framework, with BSI conducting independent third-party assessments of the relevant organizations' anti-bribery management systems. The Compliance Governance Excellence Award, presented by BSI to Huawei Group, recognizes Huawei's sustained investment and achievements in developing compliance management systems aligned with industry best practices and enhancing its global compliance governance capabilities. For multinational ICT businesses, the certification program provides telecommunications operators, enterprise customers, and business partners with independent third-party assessment information on the anti-bribery management systems of the relevant Huawei organisations and how these systems operate. This helps strengthen industry trust and supports long-term business cooperation. James Chen, Chief Compliance Officer of Huawei Group, stated: "Conducting business with integrity, upholding business ethics, and complying with relevant applicable laws and regulations have long been the core principles followed by Huawei." He explained that through continuous investment, Huawei is committed to establishing a compliance management system that aligns with industry best practices, and incorporating compliance management into end-to-end business activities and processes. Huawei will continue cultivating a culture of integrity and asks that all employees adhere to the Employee Business Conduct Guidelines. James Chen further stated: "Compliance is a shared responsibility across the entire business ecosystem. A healthy, open, and sustainable business environment requires the collective efforts of all stakeholders. Huawei looks forward to working with BSI, customers, and partners to strengthen industry trust through integrity and compliance, and jointly build a sustainable business ecosystem."

BSI launches AI assurance schemes spanning biometrics, LLMs and risk management.

BSI launches AI assurance schemes spanning biometrics, LLMs and risk management. New BSI schemes cover biometric AI compliance, LLM performance and product risk management as demand for independent assurance grows The British Standards Institution (BSI) has launched three AI assessment schemes covering high-risk biometric systems, large language models and product-level AI risk management. The schemes, announced October 14, add to a growing market for independent evidence that AI products are safe, reliable and fit for purpose. BSI cites FocalData research finding that 67 percent of business leaders would trust AI tools more if they were validated by an external organization. Its own research found that only a quarter of business leaders had a formal AI governance program, and just 28 percent knew what data sources were used to train or deploy their AI models. Independent assessment is becoming a commercial requirement as well as a regulatory one. Buyers, investors and insurers increasingly want third-party evidence that AI products perform as claimed and their risks are managed. For some high-risk systems under the EU AI Act, third-party conformity assessment is a condition of market access. For others, independent assessment can support procurement, due diligence and governance. Assessment 1: Conformity assessment for high-risk biometric AI. The first scheme targets biometric AI systems classified as high risk under Annex III, point 1 of the EU AI Act, including remote biometric identification, certain biometric categorization systems and emotion recognition. Biometric verification used solely to confirm that someone is who they claim to be is excluded from this category. The assessment follows the Act's Annex VII procedure, including review of technical documentation, the provider's quality management system and, where applicable, model capabilities and datasets. BSI says a positive assessment results in a Union technical documentation assessment certificate and an Article 17 attestation. BSI is launching the biometric AI service as a pilot while working toward designation as an AI Act Notified Body. Until that designation is granted, the service supports preparation for conformity assessment rather than providing the formal regulatory certification. The EU's AI Omnibus has meanwhile moved the deadline for Annex III high-risk requirements from August 2, 2026 to December 2, 2027. Assessment 2: Performance testing for LLM applications. The second scheme independently tests whether an implemented LLM application performs as intended. The AI Performance Assessment for Large Language Models covers applications including chatbots, retrieval-augmented generation systems and summarization tools. Testing can measure answer correctness, factual consistency, contextual relevance, toxicity and summarization quality. The focus is the finished application rather than only the underlying foundation model, capturing the effects of an organization's own data, prompts, retrieval systems and guardrails. Customers receive an independent evaluation of results, strengths and areas for improvement that can support deployment, procurement, governance and customer assurance. Assessment 3: Product-level AI risk management. The third scheme assesses how effectively risks associated with a specific AI product, model, module or system are identified, controlled and managed. The AI Risk Management Assessment is based on the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and ISO/IEC 23894. It targets products that do not require mandatory third-party conformity assessment but whose developers want independent evidence of responsible risk management. Successful organizations receive a certificate referencing the two frameworks, a technical assessment report and the BSI Mark of Trust. The assessment does not replace regulatory conformity assessment. Together with BSI's existing ISO/IEC 42001 certification for organizational AI management systems, the three services span organizational governance, product risk, technical performance and regulatory preparation. "Having led the way in the development of AI standards, BSI is committed to enabling AI's adoption for good and is now expanding our offer to help AI providers demonstrate trust in their AI," said Omkar Joshi, managing director of AI and Digital Solutions at BSI. "Our ambition is to help organisations assure the AI stack end-to-end," Joshi said. "Combined, the schemes we are launching provide independent assurance across the AI stack, helping organisations build trust from model performance to market access." Competition grows in AI assurance. BSI is entering a growing field. DEKRA announced in March that the Dutch Accreditation Council had accredited it to conduct conformity assessments for the same three categories of biometric AI systems. Like BSI, DEKRA has not announced designation as an AI Act Notified Body. SGS offers gap analysis, technical testing and conformity assessment support. TÜV SÜD provides technical documentation reviews, gap assessments and voluntary conformity assessments, while TÜV Rheinland offers AI testing, CE-marking preparation and management system services. CNLABS and TÜV AI.Lab are also developing technical validation methods and assessment frameworks. These services are not interchangeable. A readiness assessment, technical test or voluntary certificate is not the same as the third-party conformity assessment required under the AI Act for systems subject to that route. Should companies get their AI products certified? For products subject to mandatory third-party conformity assessment, the answer is straightforward: certification is part of market access. For other AI products, the decision depends on the business need. Independent assessment makes the strongest case when it satisfies customer or procurement requirements, supports due diligence, demonstrates product performance or provides buyers with credible evidence that AI risks are being managed. The type of assurance should match the question being asked. LLM testing demonstrates performance; product-level assessment demonstrates risk management; ISO/IEC 42001 addresses organizational AI governance; and regulatory conformity assessment demonstrates compliance with applicable legal requirements. As more AI assurance services enter the market, organizations should ask four questions: What is being assessed, against which requirements, who is performing the assessment, and what will the resulting certificate actually be recognized for? The question is therefore less whether an AI product should be certified, and more what assurance customers and regulators need, and which assessment provides credible evidence of it. Article topics. BSI launches Kitemark for digital twins.

BSI launches Kitemark for digital twins. Justin Stanton Editor, CM Digital The BSI has launched a Kitemark for digital twins. The new certification scheme aims to help organisations demonstrate that their digital twin capability is secure, well governed and delivering measurable business outcomes. The BSI Kitemark for Digital Twins is built on the BS ISO/IEC 30186 Digital Twin Maturity Model and additional requirements covering governance, competency, security, risk management and value realisation. It assesses both the maturity of a specific digital twin and the organisation's ability to deploy, govern and continually improve digital twin solutions over time. It provides confidence that clear ownership, accountability and controls are in place, while demonstrating that digital twins are being used to deliver measurable operational outcomes aligned to business objectives. The first BSI digital twin Kitemark has been awarded to Neuron, a smart building management systems specialist in Hong Kong. According to the BSI, the digital twin, maturity model and assessment guidance independently verified how effectively Neuron's live digital twins and supporting systems are managed, from their intended purpose through to value, security and ongoing management. Andy Butterfield, managing director of built environment at the BSI, said: "Digital twins have the potential to transform how organisations use data and AI to manage assets, infrastructure and operations, helping to deliver better outcomes for people, places and the planet. "Neuron's certification shines a light on the way forward: a pathway for organisations around the world to adopt digital twin technology with confidence, accelerate best practice globally and turn technological ambition into measurable improvements in sustainability, operational efficiency and long-term value."

From ambition to action: LPL Construction and the journey to Net Zero.

From ambition to action: LPL Construction and the journey to Net Zero. Next week, BSI Group hosts Net Zero Week 2026 (28 September to 1 October), bringing together businesses, leaders and practitioners across the UK to explore how every sector can accelerate its journey to net zero. For LPL Construction Services, it is a moment that reflects not just where the industry is heading, but where LPL Construction already stand. What is BSI Net Zero Week? BSI Net Zero Week 2026 is an annual series of online webinars run by the British Standards Institution, one of the world's leading standards bodies. This year's theme is Turning Ambition into Action Across Every Sector, and it runs from Monday 28 September to Thursday 1 October 2026. The event brings together experts and practitioners across manufacturing, energy, transport, digital and the built environment to share practical guidance on embedding net zero into how organisations operate day to day. According to the UK Net Zero Barometer 2026, 91% of businesses are looking for additional support to achieve net zero, which underscores just how important events like this are in moving the conversation from aspiration to measurable delivery. For the construction industry, the session of particular relevance is on Tuesday 29 September: Whole-Life Net Zero: From Materials and Products and Buildings to Operational Resilience. This is a topic that sits at the heart of everything LPL Construction do across its civils, aviation, healthcare and infrastructure projects. Where LPL Construction stands. At LPL Construction Services, net zero is a structured, evidence-based commitment that runs through every project LPL Construction deliver, from its Elsenham headquarters in Hertfordshire to its operations across the South East, North West and major aviation sites including London Stansted Airport and Manchester Airport. In 2025, its business grew significantly. Turnover increased by 124%, from £19.6 million in its 2022 baseline year to £44 million. With that growth came more projects, more plant, more materials and more people. It would have been easy for its carbon footprint to grow unchecked. Instead, LPL Construction focused on something more meaningful than absolute emissions: carbon intensity. When measured per £1 million of turnover, its carbon intensity reduced from 186.4 tCO[2]e in 2022 to 102.17 tCO[2]e in 2025. That is a 45% reduction in carbon intensity over three years, demonstrating that responsible growth and environmental progress are not mutually exclusive. In simple terms, LPL has more than doubled its turnover while almost halving its emissions per pound of output. Its Net Zero roadmap. Its Carbon Management Plan, sets out a structured, science-aligned pathway to net zero by 2050. LPL Construction measure and report Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions annually in line with the GHG Protocol, with external verification through Carbon Footprint Ltd and publication on the CaDi public database. Scope 1 - direct fuel emissions. Its 2025 Scope 1 emissions totalled 601.26 tCO[2]e, reflecting a period of significant project intensity with increased plant utilisation across multiple concurrent civil engineering sites. Its target is to reduce this to 200 tCO[2]e by 2030, an average reduction of approximately 80 tCO[2]e per year. LPL Construction is pursuing this through four structured workstreams: * Alternative fuel expansion, * Plant efficiency controls, * Fleet transition and * Structured travel management. Alternative fuel substitution is already making a measurable difference. During Q4 2025 alone, 59,000 litres of HVO+ fuel were used in place of white diesel, avoiding approximately 147 tCO[2]e relative to a fossil diesel baseline. HVO+ adoption is becoming standard across its plant categories wherever technically feasible. During 2026, LPL Construction is commencing a phased replacement of internal combustion engine vehicles with electric alternatives, supported by the installation of seven 7kW electric vehicle charging points at head office. Scope 2 - purchased electricity. Its Scope 2 emissions reduced to 8.31 tCO[2]e in 2025, a 37% reduction from its 2022 baseline, and Scope 2 remains on track. LPL Construction is committed to transitioning to a certified renewable electricity provider at the earliest contractual opportunity, targeting Net Zero Scope 2 emissions no later than 2035. Hybrid solar-powered welfare units are already reducing generator reliance across its sites. Scope 3 - supply chain and embodied carbon. Scope 3 remains its largest challenge and its greatest opportunity. Its 2025 Scope 3 total was 3,891.22 tCO[2]e, reflecting materially intensive civils phases across several major projects. Its 2030 target is 1,000 tCO[2]e, and its recovery pathway focuses on three key levers: concrete decarbonisation, waste and landfill reduction, and steel and procurement controls. Concrete is the single largest Scope 3 reduction opportunity. LPL Construction is increasing cement substitution ratios using GGBS, requiring embodied carbon comparisons at tender stage and prioritising suppliers with Environmental Product Declarations. On steel, LPL Construction is maintaining high recycled-content reinforcement, preferring Electric Arc Furnace production routes and engaging suppliers on science-based reduction pathways. On waste, its current landfill diversion rate is 25%. LPL Construction has a structured trajectory targeting 50% diversion by 2030, with measurable annual milestones and a landfill-last-resort governance trigger already in place across its projects. Recognised by the industry. Its commitment to sustainability is not just internally measured. In June 2026, LPL Construction Services was awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal for sustainability, placing LPL Construction in the top 5% of companies rated worldwide with an overall score of 81 out of 100. EcoVadis is the world's most trusted business sustainability ratings platform, assessing over 130,000 companies across global supply chains. Across the four EcoVadis themes, its scores were: * Environment: 78 - Top 5% global performance * Labour and Human Rights: 82 - Top 5% global performance * Ethics: 78 - Top 5% global performance * Sustainable Procurement: 84 - Top 5% global performance Sustainable procurement scoring the highest of all four reflects how deeply embedded its approach to supply chain decarbonisation has become. This isn't about ticking boxes at audit time. It's the result of daily procurement decisions, supplier engagement and evidenced reporting across every project LPL Construction deliver. Aligned to the United Nations sdgs. LPL Construction Services formally aligned its operations to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in 2023. Its 2025 SDG Performance report, provides a transparent account of progress across all 17 goals. On climate action (SDG 13), its 2025 reporting reflects the dual reality facing a growing SME in a carbon-intensive sector: absolute emissions have risen in line with project scale, but carbon intensity has fallen sharply and structured reduction pathways are now formalised and evidenced. LPL Construction is targeting year-on-year Scope 2 intensity reduction, increasing HVO+ usage to 65,000 litres across 2026 and seeking external validation of all Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions data. On responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), LPL Construction is tracking landfill diversion from 25% toward 30% in 2026, recording recycled aggregates and fine aggregate volumes as a new Scope 3 KPI, and ensuring 100% of steel reinforcement procurement flows through CARES-certified suppliers. On life on land (SDG 15), LPL Construction negotiated the acquisition of approximately 152 acres (61.5 hectares) of land in early 2026 for structured biodiversity enhancement, with hedgerow reinstatement and habitat corridor creation forming measurable annual KPIs from Q3 2026 onward. This marks a transition from reactive environmental mitigation to proactive ecological investment, something LPL Construction believe the construction sector has a responsibility to lead on. Innovation on site. Net zero in construction is not achieved by policy alone. It is achieved through innovation in how LPL Construction work on site, and 2025 brought several practical advances. Alkali-neutralising concrete washout systems (BlueRinse) were deployed across all 15 live civils-based projects during the year, treating high-pH cementitious runoff at source before discharge. Investment in a tracked, remotely operated vacuum excavator and enhanced buried services detection using magnetometer technology resulted in zero service strikes in 2025, alongside improved operational efficiency and reduced environmental risk. Plant telematics systems now enable systematic capture of engine hours, idle time and power modes across its fleet, giving its operational teams data-led oversight of fuel consumption and enabling targeted reductions rather than broad estimates. Its commitment looking ahead. BSI Net Zero Week exists because the challenge is real, the urgency is real, and 91% of businesses still need support to get there. At LPL Construction Services, LPL Construction is proud to be one of the businesses that has moved firmly from ambition to action. Its 2025 Carbon Management Plan states it plainly: the 2030 target of 1,000 tCO[2]e for Scope 3 remains its ambition, and LPL Construction is pursuing it through structural material change, supply chain decarbonisation, waste reduction maturity and embodied carbon management. Its strategic focus for 2026 to 2030 is to reduce carbon intensity per project through material substitution, procurement discipline and landfill reduction, while integrating carbon reduction into growth and project delivery decisions. Sustainable development at LPL is not a destination. It is an ongoing obligation demonstrated through disciplined action, year after year. Prince William and Harry Kane are encouraging people to have the confidence to start a conversation about suicide. Article continues below Powered By Footage shows Hamaira Batool getting into a Lamborghini before a fatal M62 crash The England captain, along with a host of other sporting stars, including Formula 1 driver George Russell and boxer Carl Frampton, star in a new film by William's Royal Foundation that promotes a brand new toolkit aimed at preventing suicide through the power of sport. Article continues below Today, the prince is launching the 'On Your Side' toolkit that has been designed for those working or volunteering in sport, which will give advice on the warning signs to spot in someone struggling and how people can start conversations and get support before a mental health crisis occurs. The launch will be marked today at Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium where William will be joined by a host of sporting stars, including Olympic gold medal winners Dame Kelly Holmes and Dame Laura Kenny as well as Lioness Jill Scott, Match of the Day presenter Gabby Logan and boxer Campbell Hatton, the son of Ricky Hatton, who took his own life last year. In the film, being released today, Kane and other sporting stars, including women's rugby World Cup winner Rocky Clark, and elite jockey turned coach George Baker, can be seen using conversation starters to ask those they spot struggling with their mental health if they want to talk. You May Like And in it, the England captain says: "If you think someone is not OK, ask. One conversation can change everything." The new toolkit also has the backing of former England captain and BBC pundit Alan Shearer, who was left deeply affected by the suicide of his close friend, the former Wales manager Gary Speed, who was just 42. Article continues below 138205439166 During his visit to the home of Everton Football Club today, where Speed once played, William will visit a special talking bench at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which was unveiled in Speed's memory and encourages people to speak openly about their mental health. Shearer said: "Everton meant so much to Gary Speed and I'm happy to support the Royal Foundation with this." He added "We can't always know when somebody is struggling but we can all be better at asking, listening and helping someone find the right support. You don't have to have all the answers, but I hope everyone will support the toolkit." Article continues below As well as visiting the bench later today, William is also expected to give a speech at the Premier League ground, where he will say: "My hope is that every sporting organisation in the country will look at what is being launched today and ask a question: 'What more can we do?' "Because the opportunity before us is enormous. Sport has the ability to reach people who may never walk through the door of a mental healthcare service. People who may never seek support themselves and may be struggling in silence. The sporting community can help change that." Article continues below The new toolkit, which is being launched on World Suicide Prevention Day, has been produced in a partnership between the UK's national standards body, the British Standards Institution (BSI) and mental health charity Chasing the Stigma. It has been developed by experts and designed to be used by sports clubs from grassroots organisations to professional outfits and can be used by players, coaches, staff, volunteers, families and fans. It has been aimed at the sports sector as research commissioned by the Royal Foundation shows that sport has the potential to be a "powerful platform" for suicide prevention but is "hampered by stigma - particularly among men and elite athletes". Article continues below The toolkit includes information on how to create an environment where people can speak up, conversation starters for those concerned about suicide, how to spot the signs of someone in crisis and where people can get support. The Football Association, of which William is patron, will commit to embedding the toolkit across its entire organisation, as well as in its community and grassroots football network. Article continues below The Premier League and British Cycling will announce their commitment to prioritising suicide prevention across their organisations, and Team GB will use the resource with all athletes and staff. It will be available on Chasing the Stigma's Hub of Hope website and app, the UK's largest mental health directory. Jake Mills, founder and CEO of Chasing the Stigma, said: "What Julian Lewis is trying to do is not just raise awareness, but come up with a conversation starter with practical solutions as a result of that. Article continues below "Julian Lewis know that sport brings people together, if Julian Lewis can reach people and give people a reason to talk about this topic, but then take something practical away, then that's the legacy of what Julian Lewis is trying to do here: to take it into that everyday life. "If we're going to make a difference as suicide prevention, given the stigma, given the uncomfortableness, given how often people feel like they can't have that conversation, we need to reach people where they are, and we know the power of sport for a sense of community, for a sense of belonging, for a sense of camaraderie and teams. So being able to reach people where they feel comfortable with this toolkit, will dramatically have a big impact." While Hazel Detsiny, executive director of the Royal Foundation, said: "This toolkit is the first of its kind, uniting the sector across all sports and at every level, with the aim of bringing about meaningful change. Sport can be a powerful force for connection and support, and everyone engaged in sport has the power to make a difference to those at risk of suicide." Article continues below
