Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science and 3–5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and use sound judgment.
  • Sensitivity in handling confidential materials.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail; well-organized, self-starting, and able to take initiative and find solutions to complex situations.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet simultaneous deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Access, Word, and Excel, and ability to learn new software programs.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain the comprehensive claims database, including inputting and updating claims information and reserves, and reporting potential claims to insurance carriers.
  • Coordinate claims setup, including contacting the filing party, verifying insurance coverage, entering data for new claims, and submitting State Board letters.
  • Manage responses to claims data requests from brokers, auditors, excess carriers, and actuaries.
  • Prepare reports, charts, and printouts regarding claims and loss experience.
  • Assist with and validate the weekly check run for indemnity and vendor payments.
  • Assist with all aspects of claims management, including participating in the reserving process, updating reserves, closing cases, and managing required CMS reporting.
  • Serve as liaison to the database software vendor and internal information services.
  • Assist with acceptance of service and respond to internal inquiries regarding information requests and subpoenas related to claims or potential claims.
  • Provide assistance to risk management staff as needed to meet the goals of the risk management program.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a hospital legal office or insurance claims management office.
  • Experience with Origami and iManage or similar programs.
