Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a science field or business preferred.
  • One to three years’ experience in any area of clinical laboratory science plus at least one year in a supervisory position where teaching responsibilities and test cost accounting was required.
  • Current Missouri chauffeurs license (Class E) license.
Responsibilities
  • Manages the operation of the Outreach program of the laboratory.
  • Provides customer support with courtesy combining best interests of the client with the available resources of the hospital.
  • Reviews patient orders to assure medical necessity and compliance with Medicare regulations.
  • Communicates all procedural changes and posts for laboratory assistant staff to review and initial through messages, memos, and periodic staff meetings.
  • Strives to attain excellent patient satisfaction scores as well as actively participate in attaining department productivity goals, and assists with training of new staff to also prioritize these goals.
  • Sets challenging and productive goals for all laboratory assistant staff, keeps team accountable for actions, provides leadership and motivation, provides resources and support, uses checkpoints and data to track progress, sets up systems and processes to measure results.
  • Manages a fair workload, volunteers for additional work, prioritizes tasks, develops good work procedures, manages time well, handles information flow.
  • Performs specimen collection including venous and capillary punctures on adults, children and newborns.
  • Ensures all procedures, policies and training performed under area meet requirements established by accrediting agencies and CLIA, notifying director promptly of areas of concern.
  • Negotiates new and ongoing laboratory contracts with residential facilities.
  • Acts as an effective laboratory liaison with staff at residential facilities, clinics, reference laboratory couriers and representatives, and other departments.
