Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with six or more years of job-related experience, or a Degree/Diploma in Engineering Technology or a related technical field with eight or more years of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of standards and testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of CSA and ANSI standards, including ANSI Z21.10.1/CSA 4.1, ANSI Z21.10.3/CSA 4.3, and ANSI Z21.47/CSA 2.3.
  • Thorough knowledge of CSA certification options, programs, and services applicable to a variety of equipment.
  • High-level interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and project-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised in a team-based work environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop engineering drawings.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to use various laboratory equipment, instruments, and tools.
  • Product knowledge and hands-on ability to conduct tests to industry standards.
  • Ability to work under a tight schedule in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage complex projects on time and develop new processes for difficult situations.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and businesses and gain familiarity with applicable standards.
  • Ability to work across institutional, cultural, and geographic boundaries.

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage concurrent certification projects, ensuring compliance with applicable safety requirements and completion within time and cost deadlines.
  • Evaluate products against national and international standards and precedent decisions.
  • Review the work of others using technical competency.
  • Evaluate complex, unique, or unusual product types.
  • Maintain on-time, on-budget performance while managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Review test data and reports and authorize the application of Certification Marks.
  • Prepare and/or sign Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance.
  • Conduct construction evaluations to ensure units comply with the construction section of applicable standards and identify the rationale for compliance or non-compliance.
  • Collaborate with Lab Technicians to create work orders specifying required tests, test order, and sample quantities.

TORONTO – CSA Group has announced the opening of an accredited, special-purpose laboratory dedicated to testing and certifying the safety of medical-grade PPE. Until now, there have been no domestic providers of testing and certification services for medical-grade PPE.
