Clinica Romero is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) in the greater Los Angeles area that provides affordable, comprehensive healthcare to underserved populations, regardless of their ability to pay. It offers primary medical care, dental, vision, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and pharmacy services, plus women’s and children’s programs (prenatal and pediatric care), homeless services, and health education. It accepts Medi-Cal and Medicare and uses a sliding-scale fee model for the uninsured. The clinic operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded through federal programs and serves communities in Pico-Union and Boyle Heights, with a focus on immigrant and Latino populations. Community health workers (Promotoras) assist with outreach and education. Led by President & CEO Carlos Vaquerano, Clínica Romero aims to improve access to comprehensive, affordable healthcare for low-income families and immigrants, guided by the example of Monseñor Oscar A.
