About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline, ideally Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience designing with a range of materials, including steels, plastics, and alloys.
  • Knowledge of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software is required.
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools to support basic analysis and validation activities.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and take design concepts through to medium-volume production.
  • The ability to work independently toward defined objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a methodical approach to engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Produce mechanical designs that meet defined technical, performance, reliability, and cost requirements.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, Bills of Materials, assembly instructions, and supporting technical publications, in line with the Engineering Change process.
  • Apply design principles, in-house standards, approved reference materials, and standard components where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Production teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and cost-effective to manufacture.
  • Maintain compatibility between designs and adjacent components, assemblies, and wider system architectures.
  • Perform component-level computer-aided engineering (CAE) and finite element analysis (FEA) to support design decisions, verify performance, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Integrate mistake-proofing, clear visual guidance, or simplified features into designs to reduce assembly errors or rework.
  • Collaborate with Engineers and internal departments when implementing new design concepts or engineering approaches.
  • Interpret and incorporate relevant industry standards, directives, and regulatory requirements into product designs.
  • Support compliance of documentation and designs with applicable quality and safety expectations.
  • Assist in developing test plans and validation activities to ensure design elements and performance objectives are met.
  • Support testing activities, including preparing test articles, reviewing results, and contributing to design refinements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to engineering development processes such as prototyping, testing, or design for manufacture.
  • Experience with NX CAD software.
  • Familiarity with ANSYS for basic analysis and validation activities.
