Requirements
  • A Master of Science or PhD in Human Factors Engineering, Design Research, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, or a related field is required.
  • At least 7 years of industry experience applying design research and/or human factors methods to new product development in technology is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to define product experiences end-to-end, from early concept through requirement specification, is required.
  • Strong expertise in at least two of the following areas is required: design research methods including contextual inquiry, diary studies, participatory design, ethnographic research, and survey design; qualitative research and synthesis for experience strategy; interaction design for intelligent or adaptive systems; multimodal interaction including voice, touch, gesture, gaze, and spatial interaction; or human-AI interaction and automation or autonomy frameworks.
  • The role requires defining study objectives and developing tailored research plans.
  • The role requires determining critical data attributes, conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses, translating findings into meaningful insights, visualizing data, and presenting recommendations to collaborators.
Responsibilities
  • Define experience targets, interaction models, and success criteria for new product concepts, translating user needs, cognitive constraints, and behavioral insights into specifications that guide engineering implementation.
  • Partner with product, design, engineering, and data leadership to shape product vision, influence technical tradeoffs, and ensure experiences are grounded in human-centered rationale.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple project teams by mentoring engineers and researchers, representing human factors in system design reviews, developing scalable methods, and strategizing communication methods to influence project team and leadership decisions.
  • Identify human factors risks and propose research throughout all stages of product and technology development.
  • Work closely with engineers and designers to understand design and interaction challenges and deliver actionable insights that drive decisions.

  • Experience building persona frameworks.
  • Experience defining data requirements for machine-learning or artificial-intelligence-driven user experiences.

Apple discloses $14.7B EU tax payment in Ireland following court ruling

Apple has disclosed its profits and tax payments across individual EU countries for the first time under new transparency rules. The tech giant reported $17.1 billion in income tax paid in Ireland for the financial year ending September 2025, reflecting funds released from an escrow account following a European Court of Justice ruling. In September 2024, Apple lost a legal battle with the European Commission over Irish tax advantages, resulting in a €13 billion ($15.2 billion) back taxes order plus interest. In Germany, Apple recorded pre-tax profit of around $209 million and paid $153.5 million in income tax. Its German operations generated $2.72 billion in revenue and employed 4,089 people. Under EU rules, multinational companies with global annual revenue exceeding €750 million must publicly disclose income tax information for individual countries.

Meta releases open-source AI models while Apple tests Chinese memory chips to tackle supply crunch

Apple books $6M profit per Irish employee vs. $51K in Germany

Apple lays off 60 Vision Pro staff, shifts focus to smart glasses as Ternus prepares for CEO role

Apple has reportedly laid off approximately 60 employees working on virtual reality development, according to Apple Insider. The cuts affected workers across Apple's Vision Group and other VR-related positions, signalling a pullback from the Vision Pro headset.
