The transaction is scheduled to close on 1 December 2026. The sale is part of Nidec's business portfolio reform following accounting irregularities. The company announced a five-year management reform plan in May 2026, aiming to concentrate resources on core businesses and key growth areas. Nidec Components, established in 1967 as Copal Electronics, became a wholly owned subsidiary in 2014. The company manufactures pressure sensors, switches, torque sensors, and encoders for industrial equipment markets, holding a top global share in the polygon mirror market. Nidec concluded that transferring the subsidiary to Carlyle would enhance corporate value whilst allowing Nidec to focus resources on priority growth areas.
