Requirements
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited neurology residency.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in neurology.
  • A medical degree and two years of direct or internship experience.
  • A current Michigan medical license, or ability to obtain one.
  • A current Drug Enforcement Administration registration and Controlled Substance Diversion registration, or equivalent required registrations.
  • Ability to maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Ability to work a hybrid rotation of inpatient and clinic assignments.
  • Ability to provide effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work with sustained alertness and concentration, including regular computer use.
  • Ability to stand or walk considerably, lift light objects, and assist with lifting and moving patients.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality under federal guidelines and regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients.
  • Educate patients and families on wellness, prevention, and early detection using materials and resources.
  • Determine required referrals based on examination findings and patient needs.
  • Determine the urgency of follow-up, referral, and consultation appointments.
  • Exercise final medical judgment on health care issues.
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
  • Order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
  • Document all services in patient medical records.
  • Regularly review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention.
  • Consult with the Medical Director and other staff professionals regarding patient care, assessment, and education.
  • Participate in hospital or clinic process-improvement, management, continuing-education, and patient-care programs.
  • Oversee assigned mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff.
  • Assist with resolving patient complaints, requests, and inquiries.
  • Provide customer service consistent with the organization's mission, values, and standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Fellowship training in Vascular Neurology or Neurocritical Care.
  • Ability to read vascular ultrasound studies.
  • Ability to perform electromyography studies, if interested.
