Requirements
  • Expert knowledge of welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, and quality standards.
  • Experience troubleshooting welding equipment and processes.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior welders.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Flexibility to work in other departments.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 5 years of welding experience with MIG or TIG welding, specifically on aluminum.
  • Manual dexterity and stability sufficient for precision work.
  • Ability to see details at close range.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to read work instructions and drawings.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to traverse facilities and machinery by lifting, walking, bending, twisting, and carrying materials.
Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced, complex MIG and TIG welding on aluminum components while meeting tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
  • Interpret detailed blueprints, welding symbols, and production plans for intricate assemblies.
  • Identify welding defects or process inefficiencies and implement solutions promptly.
  • Recommend improvements to welding techniques, workflows, or equipment to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure welds meet industry and company standards, including visual checks and non-destructive testing as needed.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide advanced training and guidance for Welder I and Welder II employees.
  • Work across multiple departments within Premier Marine.
  • Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and welding standards, and lead by example in safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
