Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related major.
  • At least 4–6 years of actuarial experience focused on Excess and Surplus casualty pricing.
  • Proficiency in actuarial software and tools such as SAS, R, Python, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Data management skills or knowledge of insurance data management and databases.
  • Ability to operate independently, drive projects forward with limited oversight, and take accountability for outcomes across the full lifecycle of a process or product build.
  • Ability to work effectively under uncertainty and ambiguity and with complex, diverse datasets and non-standardized processes.
  • Ability to convey technical actuarial concepts to non-actuarial or technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work simultaneously with multiple external client teams and internal stakeholders to advance actuarial solutions.
  • Ability to solve technical client problems with minimal guidance, including working directly with client data and actuarial teams.
Responsibilities
  • Develop creative actuarial solutions for complex risks and problems that do not fit the traditional admitted market framework.
  • Navigate and synthesize disparate data sources of varying granularity and complexity typical of the Excess and Surplus casualty space.
  • Support the buildout of data intake processes for contributory Excess and Surplus premium, loss, and exposure casualty data, and translate data into actionable actuarial and underwriting insights and analytics.
  • Analyze contributory, proprietary, and other third-party data to support the development of casualty analytics and pricing solutions for Excess and Surplus customers.
  • Collaborate with Excess and Surplus team colleagues and other cross-functional teams to deliver solutions to customers.
  • Liaise with data operations, analytics, casualty lines actuarial, and other business units and experts.
  • Own workstreams end-to-end, from problem definition and data discovery through analysis, stakeholder alignment, implementation support, and delivery of client solutions.
  • Identify roadblocks, drive next steps, and move ambiguous or undefined processes toward scalable, repeatable solutions.
  • Assist in relevant customer- and market-facing projects and engagements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) certification.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake and dbt.
  • Experience with generative artificial intelligence tools in a production environment.
  • Reserving experience.
  • Predictive modeling experience.

Verisk CIO Nick Daffan steps down after 20 years as CTO takes interim role

Verisk Q2 earnings beat estimates at $1.98 per share on insurance growth

Verisk reported second-quarter 2026 diluted adjusted earnings of $1.98 per share, beating estimates of $1.94 by 2.1%. Revenues reached $806.3 million, topping consensus of $802.4 million and rising 4.3% year over year. Underwriting revenues increased 3.5% to $569 million, driven by annual price increases and expanded catastrophe solutions. Claims revenues rose 6.3% to $237 million, led by anti-fraud analytics and restoration solutions. Adjusted EBITDA grew 4.2% to $463.6 million, with the margin at 57.5%. However, GAAP net income fell 9.8% to $228.6 million due to higher tax rates and increased interest expenses. Free cash flow surged 57.9% to $297.9 million.
