Requirements
  • 8-12+ years in transmission and distribution estimating or related profession
  • Experience mentoring junior estimators and leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Valid, Active Driver's License
  • Pre-employment drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check required upon offer
Responsibilities
  • Lead project pursuits and mentor junior estimators, ensuring accurate deliverables by team members
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs, unit pricing, and crew build-ups
  • Conduct geo-technical and access modeling
  • Level vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Perform risk assessment
  • Prepare proposal narratives and clarifications
  • Present basis of estimate to Director, Vice President, President, and other executives
  • Familiarize with bid documents and prepare staking sheets and budgets
  • Conduct site visits as needed
  • Communicate project status and assignments to the team
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers
  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
Desired Qualifications
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in construction management or engineering
  • Software: Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Excel
  • Estimating Software: HCSS/HeavyBid, B2W, InEight
  • Technical: NESC and OSHA 1926 Subpart V interpretation, PLS-CADD, GIS
  • Certifications: OSHA-30; PMP/CPE/PE/EIT
  • Strong technical writing
  • Estimating mastery, financial acumen, collaboration across engineering/PM/procurement/field
  • Excellent communication skills for client, team, and executive interactions
  • Good understanding of blueprints and drawings and strong plan and profile interpretation
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
  • Self-starter and motivated to complete assigned tasks
  • Mathematics — Using mathematics to solve problems
  • Critical thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions

Quanta Services acquires Davenport's Tri-City Group, adding 2,800 employees to 69,000-strong workforce

Quanta Services has acquired Davenport-based Tri-City Group, a family of contractors and engineering companies specialising in electrical construction, technology solutions and industrial services. The acquisition was completed in the fourth quarter of 2025. Tri-City Group will retain its name, brand and leadership team, including the Palmer Family. The company, which has operated since 1895, employs over 2,800 people and has completed projects in 46 states, two US territories and six countries. Houston-based Quanta Services, which employs approximately 69,000 people, is a specialised contracting company providing integrated engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services for electric power, renewable energy and underground utility infrastructure. The acquisition strengthens Quanta's electrical infrastructure services capabilities across key US regions.
