Requirements
  • A relevant degree or Associate Diploma with relevant experience, or another appropriate qualification with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated case management and intervention delivery skills.
  • Experience working with people who have experienced trauma and the ability to provide culturally safe, inclusive, and person-centred support to diverse and marginalised communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
  • Understanding of domestic and family violence, its complexities and consequences, particularly as they affect Aboriginal women and children, and sensitivity to their needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic and family violence.
  • Good communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy, and conflict resolution.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Current New South Wales driving licence.
  • Before starting work, successful candidates must undertake a national police history check, qualification checks, and referee checks, and obtain clearance to work with children or vulnerable people.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive risk and needs assessments using tools such as the Domestic Violence Safety Assessment Tool (DVSAT).
  • Develop and implement individualised case plans in partnership with clients.
  • Provide ongoing support, advocacy, and referrals to relevant legal, housing, health, and counselling services.
  • Engage with children and young people as clients in their own right, where appropriate.
  • Support people using violence through information, referral, and coordinated safety planning in collaboration with specialist services.
  • Use brokerage funds to support client safety and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to data reporting.
  • Participate in interagency collaboration, community education, and service promotion activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working in the community service sector, particularly in domestic violence or justice, and a thorough understanding of the impacts of violence within intimate partner relationships.
