Systems & DevOps Engineer
About the job
- At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience in systems administration, DevOps, production operations, or a similar engineering role, including deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting production systems.
- Practical Linux and systems knowledge, including familiarity with operating systems and services and strong IP networking fundamentals.
- Hands-on Docker experience, including understanding images, containers, volumes, networking, logs, and configuration, and working with containerized applications.
- Understanding of repeatable deployments and experience using Terraform, Ansible, or similar infrastructure automation tooling.
- A university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- A systematic troubleshooting approach: gathering evidence, testing hypotheses, and narrowing down unfamiliar problems to understand why failures occurred.
- Ownership and sound judgment, including following problems through, taking care with production changes, knowing when to involve others, and seeking improvements to repetitive work.
- Proactive learning, openness to feedback, and willingness to help technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Deploy, configure, and update Linux/Jetson and Windows-based systems using Docker, Docker Compose, and infrastructure tooling such as Terraform.
- Carry out software and configuration updates across edge devices and progressively take on releases for the cloud Recognition Service.
- Serve as the first engineering escalation point for Customer Support; use SSH, logs, monitoring, and system state to diagnose problems, resolve common issues, and provide findings to senior engineers when needed.
- Automate repetitive tasks and improve monitoring, runbooks, and deployment processes to reduce operational effort as the fleet grows.
- Work with Engineering, Customer Support, and Sales, communicating technical findings and helping colleagues move issues toward resolution.
- Build understanding of the architecture under close supervision and progressively take on more independent operational decisions.
- Participate in an engineering on-call arrangement as formal processes are developed.
