Requirements

A Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution is required.
A medical-surgical nursing background with 3-5 years of experience, including clinical supervision of students, is required.
A valid New York State Professional Registered Nurse license is required.
Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer or Health Provider certification is required.
The candidate must be self-directed and organized.

Responsibilities

Complete facility orientation prior to the start of clinical.
Create patient assignments prior to the start of the clinical day.
Supervise students in all aspects of care of patients and clients.
Review and provide feedback for all written clinical assignments.
Submit grades for assignments as directed by the course coordinator.
Provide weekly feedback to students in the clinical area.
Complete midterm and final clinical evaluations.
Plan instructional activities for pre- and post-conferences.
Communicate issues at the clinical site with the course coordinator.
Be responsible for all clinical hours assigned to the course.
Assist in proctoring exams if needed.
Attend faculty meetings once a semester.

Overview

The Clinical Instructor will teach in the undergraduate program at a clinical site with 8-9 students with an emphasis on the care of a patient within the psychiatric/medical-surgical patient population. Clinical instructors are expected to be available for all clinical assignments once scheduled during the semester.

Qualifications

Education/Experience
