Requirements
  • Professional Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Completion of a Primary Care residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, or Preventive Medicine, with current board eligibility or board certification.
  • Candidates with recognized subspecialty training and current board eligibility or board certification by the appropriate specialty board will also be considered.
  • Current or eligibility for licensure in Missouri and Kansas.
  • Current or eligibility for BNDD/DEA certification.
  • Current or eligibility for a hospital appointment.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach course material throughout the four-year Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine curriculum in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and remote web-based education settings.
  • Teach medical simulations involving standardized patients, manikin-based simulation, and telemedicine education.
  • Conduct research or other scholarly activity.
  • Provide College of Osteopathic Medicine or university service.
  • Provide clinical practice within a Federally Qualified Health Center one to two days per week.
  • Develop course syllabi.
  • Participate actively in curriculum and assessment development for student success.
  • Provide student advisement and office hours.
  • Participate continuously in admissions activities.
  • Engage in research or scholarly activity and continued professional development.
  • Participate in patient-centered and team-based clinical care.
  • Participate in Commencement and White Coat ceremonies.
  • Understand and adhere to accreditation standards, expectations, policies, and procedures.
  • Report to the Chair of the Department of Primary Care and assist with curriculum development and implementation integrating medical specialties in team-based, large-group, and small-group learning environments, physical examination, and clinical teaching.
Desired Qualifications
  • Interest in clinically serving underserved populations.
  • Prior teaching experience in an academic setting.
  • Knowledge of instructional technologies.
  • Experience with curricular and instructional design and training or experience in educational theory or evaluation.
  • Experience using innovative teaching methods or willingness to apply learning sciences to medical education, including presentation-based education, team-based learning, flipped classrooms, synchronous and asynchronous distance learning, interactive large-group presentations, audience response systems, curriculum delivery systems, simulation-based instruction, and assessment and exam-item writing using COMLEX and USMLE-style questions.
