Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Audiology Assistant Certification completion within the first three months of employment.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Audiologist in audiological testing and evaluation, including proper fitting of hearing devices and technology.
  • Perform hearing aid orientation, including basic care and use such as insertion, removal, and volume adjustment, and demonstrate care and maintenance of hearing devices to patients and caregivers.
  • Work directly with the Practice Manager to train junior assistants in all areas of responsibility.
  • Submit signed consents to healthcare centers to retrieve medical records, pathology slides, x-rays, and other pertinent reports.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and provide basic instructions about examination procedures.
  • Assist with examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments and materials to the Audiologist as directed.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments while observing sterile technique, and maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
  • Manage, organize, and stock audiology rooms with specialty supplies daily and discard expired supplies.
  • Evaluate audiology clinic organization and cleanliness weekly, check hand sanitizer dispensers, and report filling or deep-cleaning needs.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including answering phone calls and maintaining records.
  • Use IDX RIS/PACS to track patient arrival times and advise front desk personnel of delays to maintain the daily schedule.
  • Greet patients, verify patient information, direct patients to the clinic or audiology room, and ensure they are ready for the provider.
  • Assist with copying completed patient paperwork, delivering originals to the front desk for scanning, and distributing copies to appropriate reading rooms.
  • Assist with distributing patient label stickers in Audiology.
  • Perform daily biologic checks of audiological equipment and document and report equipment problems to appropriate managing staff.
  • Report unusual incidents promptly to appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
