About the job

Requirements
  • Be qualified to practise law in Spain and have substantial legal, legal-operations or legal-technology experience, with a strong understanding of decision-making in sophisticated law firms and in-house legal teams.
  • Have built a team, function, market or new operating model from a low base, with clear evidence of personal decisions and what continued to work without the candidate.
  • Have managed and developed strong people, ideally including managers or Team Leads, and be able to point to people whose careers accelerated under the candidate's leadership.
  • Be deeply curious about generative artificial intelligence and product; learn the platform, challenge use-case design and coach credible client work. Software engineering experience is not required.
  • Be able to engage effectively with Managing Partners, General Counsel or executive teams while remaining practical with the people doing the work.
  • Understand the commercial realities of legal services and enterprise software, and connect Legal Engineering to pipeline, client value, adoption, usage and revenue.
  • Bring structure to ambiguity without creating unnecessary process, and build operating systems that improve speed and quality.
  • Have strong hiring and performance judgment, attract high-calibre people, develop them directly and protect standards when a seat is not working.
  • Communicate fluently in Spanish and English, in writing and in person.
  • Be based in Madrid and able to work from the office five days per week, with travel across Spain and Portugal for strategic clients, market development and team leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Establish the Legal Engineering function for Spain and Portugal from the Madrid office, including its operating rhythm, quality bar, capacity model and local partnership with Go-to-Market and Engagement.
  • Hire Legal Engineers and future leaders, owning the quality bar from sourcing and interview calibration through closing, onboarding and ramp.
  • Build a manager layer of Team Leads who each own and develop a group of Legal Engineers; delegate decision rights and create succession paths so the function becomes less dependent on the Head over time.
  • Give direct, evidence-based feedback, coach team members, set clear expectations and act decisively when performance or values do not meet the bar.
  • Partner with local commercial leadership on priority accounts, pilots, rollouts and escalations, connecting Legal Engineering activity to conversion, adoption, usage, expansion and revenue.
  • Act as lead legal architect on selected enterprise engagements, translate legal problems into Legora workflows and turn successful delivery into reusable playbooks.
  • Oversee complex, multi-stakeholder programmes with clear governance, owners, outcomes, leading indicators and risk management.
  • Build trusted relationships with Managing Partners, General Counsels, Heads of Innovation, Legal Operations leaders and other senior stakeholders.
  • Represent the market's voice inside Legora by translating recurring client patterns and product gaps into actionable input for Product.
  • Shape Legora's point of view on artificial intelligence and legal work in Spain through executive client forums, events, writing and practical market insight grounded in first-hand work.
  • Create clean handoffs across Go-to-Market, Legal Engineering and Engagement so commercial momentum, delivery quality and long-term adoption reinforce one another.
  • Move quickly from complex legal problems to credible Legora workflows, set the quality bar, coach others and turn strong work into reusable offers, templates and playbooks.
  • Translate legal and technical complexity into business outcomes, build trust with senior leaders, write clearly and develop the team's executive presence.
  • Lead complex rollouts with clear outcomes, owners, dependencies, metrics and governance; adjust to changing circumstances and codify reusable practices.
  • Understand incentives beneath competing stakeholder positions, resolve high-stakes escalations and coach Legal Engineers to own senior relationships.
  • Develop a credible point of view on how artificial intelligence will change legal work, shape the local market conversation and turn field insight into useful product and company direction.
  • Own open seats end to end in partnership with Talent and maintain hiring standards as the team grows.
  • Provide early, written and specific feedback, create stretch opportunities, develop future leaders and distinguish coachable gaps from persistent underperformance.
  • Own market outcomes while delegating authority; clarify priorities, decision rights, leading indicators and dependencies so the team can operate without the Head in every room.
  • Give the team credit, take accountability for misses and foster trust so problems are raised early.
  • Protect the performance standard with speed, fairness and evidence, and make difficult decisions humanely and unambiguously.

About the company

Legora builds an AI-powered, collaborative workspace for legal teams. Its platform helps law firms and corporate legal departments conduct research, review, drafting, and end-to-end legal workflows, all within a workspace that includes firm-specific and jurisdiction-specific context. The product works by providing an agentic AI assistant that can handle tasks across the legal process—research, drafting, reviewing, and workflow orchestration—tailored to each firm’s rules and the relevant laws of different jurisdictions. Legora differentiates itself from competitors by serving a very large existing customer base (tens of thousands of lawyers across 1,000+ organizations in 50+ markets), focusing specifically on legal work, and backing its platform with significant capital and big-name investors to scale its US expansion and its agentic workflows. The company’s goal is to broaden adoption of its AI-powered legal workspace globally and to enable efficient, context-aware legal work at scale.

Sirion and Legora link contract management with legal AI research for in-house teams

Sirion, a contract lifecycle management (CLM) platform, and Legora, an AI operating system for legal work, announced a partnership on October 14, 2026. It connects the two platforms so in-house legal teams no longer have to move information manually between research and contract systems. Customers can pull Sirion contracts, precedents, and negotiated terms into Legora to generate insights, summaries, and drafts. Within Sirion, users can run Legora research to check contracts against case law, legislation, and regulations. Legora returns cited answers and suggested amendments. Sirion remains the system of record, and its access controls carry over to Legora automatically. The integration will roll out in phases, starting with select beta customers.

Legora CEO: UK stock options make London expansion a 'no-brainer' but Sweden 'almost impossible

Swedish legaltech Legora is expanding in London, with CEO Max Junestrand citing the UK's favourable approach to employee stock options as a key driver. Junestrand contrasted this with conditions in Sweden, which he described as "almost impossible" for scaling companies. The CEO highlighted broader challenges around taxation of employee equity across Europe, stating it makes it "impossible to actually scale here." The comments underscore ongoing debates about how different regulatory approaches to stock options affect where fast-growing tech companies choose to expand. Legora's decision to prioritise London expansion reflects growing concerns amongst European founders about competitive disadvantages created by varying national policies on employee ownership schemes.

Legora acquires litigation startup Wexler in fifth deal since January

Legora has acquired litigation startup Wexler, whose software helps lawyers reconstruct cases from thousands of documents by tracing statements back to source evidence and identifying conflicts. The acquisition marks Legora's fifth since January as it competes with rival Harvey to dominate the law firm market. London-based Wexler had raised $7 million and secured clients including HSF Kramer, Goodwin Procter, and Clifford Chance. The company claims its software cuts manual document review time by 75 per cent. Wexler cofounder Gregory Mostyn said the startup wasn't seeking a sale but chose to join Legora's platform of over 1,500 customers. Legora was valued at $5.5 billion in March, whilst Harvey is worth $11 billion. The deal reflects consolidation in legal tech as law firms select long-term software partners following years of testing chatbots and other tools.
