Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English clearly and concisely.
  • Physical stamina, manual dexterity, and visual and aural acuity to perform the duties.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • A high school diploma.
  • Orientation toward consumer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to individual and group psychiatric patients in a support and collaborative role with the registered nurse.
  • Organize and implement group activities in conjunction with the unit program and other staff.
  • Perform procedures associated with patients' activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
  • Demonstrate a humanistic and caring attitude.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the desired effects and side effects of psychotropic medications.
  • Establish and foster collegial relationships with peers and other disciplines.
  • Promote an environment sensitive to cultural diversity and responsive to diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Demonstrate therapeutic skills in crisis intervention.
  • Perform supplemental components of the nursing admission.
  • Recognize changes in a patient's mental status and share findings with the primary nurse.
  • Perform milieu management.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in an acute-care psychiatric setting.
  • Experience with electrocardiography and phlebotomy.
  • Current CPI or PMCS certification.
