Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience.
  • Current or compact registered nurse licensure in North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to be present on site for 8-hour shifts during standard business hours.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, push or pull 250 pounds, and carry 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the nurse line for telephone triage, document encounters, follow clinic protocols, inform providers as indicated, and address triage-related in-basket tasks including MyChart patient advice and cardiac clearance forms.
  • Collaborate with internal and external members of patients' care teams.
  • Evaluate, assess, and educate patients before procedures and alert physicians to necessary modifications before cardiac ultrasound procedures.
  • Serve as the primary nurse in cardiac diagnostic testing, start intravenous lines, calculate doses, prepare and titrate infusions, and monitor patients.
  • Administer Dobutamine, Definity, saline, and other medications according to orders or established protocols while following the six rights of medication administration.
  • Monitor patients during nuclear stress testing and echocardiograms as needed.
  • Assist with intravenous Lasix therapy as needed.
  • Handle prescription refills according to protocols.
  • Manage and perform PT/INR testing and provide Warfarin education.
  • Maintain department logs, educational materials, and reports required for accreditation and JCAHO, including medication, equipment, and crash-cart records.
  • Perform patient intake, including vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information based on patient assessment and clinic staffing needs.
  • Provide backup coverage for procedure triage and scheduling as needed.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Participate in performance-improvement projects and serve as a liaison for clinic-related projects.
  • Assist in training new staff for cross-coverage and educational purposes.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
