  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
  • Seven years of practical experience and working knowledge across a broad range of Transmission and Distribution power systems, including planning, engineering, construction, or operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop engineering teams responsible for comprehensive needs and solutions assessments addressing Transmission and Substation reliability and infrastructure deficiencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver thoughtful, practical, and innovative approaches to evaluating solution alternatives, justifying Transmission and Substation projects, and developing resulting investment plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee or prepare sufficient documentation and deliver concise communications to internal executives and senior leadership, external regulators, independent system operators, and other key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a diverse team of utility engineering experts performing comprehensive needs and solutions assessments for Transmission and Substation reliability and infrastructure needs.
  • Oversee development of new Transmission and Substation capital projects to a conceptual design level for financial approval and handoff to execution, including detailed design, procurement, and construction.
  • Ensure proposed Transmission and Substation projects meet stakeholder and internal investment plan requirements through appropriate justification and supporting documentation.
  • Serve as a lead member and contributor to the Transmission System Review Group, reviewing and providing feedback on stakeholder materials and potentially serving as chair or vice-chair.
  • Provide technical and investment oversight and make decisions for Transmission and Substation capital projects from inception through construction.
  • Support the long-term Transmission and Substation capital expenditure investment portfolio, including rate case preparation, regulatory funding commitments, and independent system operator reporting.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Planning personnel to identify and mitigate Transmission and Substation system issues.
  • Investigate and prioritize Transmission and Substation system needs requiring comprehensive intervention assessments for inclusion in the long-term investment plan.
  • Establish documentation requirements for projects based on cost, complexity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and edit executive and comprehensive reports and presentations that explain system needs and map them to recommended solutions or planned projects.
  • Present messages to internal and external stakeholders, including executives, regulators, and independent system operators.
  • Build collaborative relationships across internal business areas and teams and with external stakeholders, including regulators and independent system operators.
  • Promote collaboration, efficiency, innovation, and quality across business areas.
  • Promote continual growth and development to advance business objectives.
  • Establish consistent, constructive, and clear development and performance feedback mechanisms for a high-functioning team.
  • Provide strategic leadership to a highly technical internal and external contractor team working across multiple operating companies and geographic locations.
  • Lead, collaborate on, or advise regarding complex multidisciplinary issues across electric networks, including asset management, Transmission and Substation project technical review, system topology design, reliability and resiliency, equipment standardization, equipment ratings, and protection and control.
  • Facilitate collaborative decision-making across business areas.
  • Use verbal and written communication with all levels of management to inform and influence business plans and decisions.
  • Serve as a witness on regulatory and technical issues involving independent system operators, siting councils, and public utility commissions.
  • Represent Avangrid in national and regional forums.
  • Initiate studies and activities to identify issues and system needs, evaluate threats and opportunities, and define and prioritize system-wide solutions based on risk, value, and implementation complexity.
  • Represent company interests before regional and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support on complex regulatory and technical issues.
  • Assist executive and senior leaders in identifying and managing risks, opportunities, and business uncertainty arising from industry changes and projects or growth initiatives.
  • Provide input into business-unit processes and strategies based on national, regional, and local dockets, orders, and regulations.
  • Anticipate impacts of legislative and regulatory changes to tariffs, investment rate recovery, and business strategies and plans.
  • Monitor industry changes and initiate responses across business areas, including studies, assessments, evaluation of threats and opportunities, and recommendations based on risk, value, and implementation complexity.
  • Accept responsibility for personal safety and health and the safety and health of fellow employees.

Iberdrola picks ICEYE's SAR satellites to protect grid from extreme weather

Iberdrola has selected ICEYE to strengthen its electricity grid against extreme weather events using synthetic aperture radar satellite technology and near real-time data. The solution will help anticipate risks including floods, fires and strong winds, assess damage quickly and minimise impact on electricity supply. The initiative won a New-Tech Challenge within Iberdrola's PERSEO innovation programme, receiving over 40 proposals from ten countries. The 12-month pilot will launch in Spain, with ICEYE's Flood Solutions Suite providing forecasting, rapid impact assessment and flood insights. The deployment also includes wind damage assessment solutions for Iberdrola's assets in the United States and Australia. ICEYE's SAR technology can capture high-resolution imagery through smoke and storm clouds, enabling continuous monitoring in all weather conditions day or night.

Wallbox restructures $191.5M debt with Spanish banks as Catalan government takes stake

Wallbox, the Barcelona-based electric vehicle charging systems company, has closed a debt restructuring agreement worth €169.5 million with creditors representing over 83% of its financial debt. The deal includes a capital increase that will bring the Generalitat of Catalonia in as a shareholder. The agreement, pending judicial approval and scheduled for signing on 8 April, restructures existing debt into a €57.6 million framework loan and a €69.1 million bullet instrument, both maturing in December 2030. A working capital agreement of approximately €42.8 million was also reached. The restructuring includes a €10.65 million capital increase, with strategic shareholders contributing €5.65 million and the Generalitat adding €5 million. Participating banks will provide €12.5 million in new financing. CEO Enric Asunción said the agreement strengthens Wallbox's financial position.
