About the Team and Role:
We are seeking a talented Staff Software Engineer to contribute to Poe, our exciting AI product. You’ll have the thrilling opportunity to build cutting-edge features from scratch as a member of a team focused on improving the chat experience and bot ecosystem.
Your role will involve planning and implementing new features, contributing to front-end and back-end development, and taking shared ownership of the cross-functional product development cycle. If you’re a team player with strong technical skills, passionate about AI, and eager to learn emerging technologies, we’d love to hear from you. With Poe’s rapid growth trajectory, this role offers an invaluable opportunity to make a significant impact.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with designers, product, data scientists, QA, and other engineers to deliver interactive, intuitive AI-powered user experiences on Poe
Iterate quickly on projects, from ideation to launch, using the full web technology stack
Be a champion for both user experience and for sustainable, scalable code practices
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to be available for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora’s “coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)
7+ years of full-time professional full-stack experience building user-facing consumer web products (excluding internships)
5+ years of professional experience with React, Typescript, and GraphQL
5+ years experience in Python or similar programming language
Professional experience leveraging backend storage systems such as MySQL, MyRocks, Memcached, or Redis

There are many factors that will determine the starting pay, including but not limited to experience, location, education, and business needs.
US candidates only: For US based applicants, the salary range is $174,400 - $275,750 USD + equity + benefits.
Canada candidates only: For Canada based applicants, the salary range is $179,311 - $283,515 CAD + equity + benefits.
