Veterinary Nurse (Casual Locum) | Brisbane West Region | Greencross Vets

Are you an experienced Veterinary Nurse who can confidently walk into a clinic, hit the ground running, and provide immediate support to busy teams?

Greencross is looking for an experienced and capable Casual Locum Veterinary Nurse to support our clinics across the Brisbane West Region.

This is a unique opportunity for a nurse who enjoys variety, flexibility, and the chance to work with multiple teams while making a genuine difference. We're looking for someone who can confidently step into different clinic environments, adapt quickly, work independently, and provide experienced nursing support whenever our teams need an extra pair of hands.

You'll become a valued member of our Brisbane West nursing community, supporting clinics during periods of leave, high demand, and additional staffing requirements.

The role will primarily provide support across clinics including:

• Ipswich: Greencross Ipswich and Silkstone-Booval
• Brisbane: Greencross Camira, Forest Lake, Browns Plains, Jindalee, Kenmore, Richlands
• Toowoomba: Greencross Chandlers, Eastwood House, South Toowoomba and Wilsonton

About the Role

As a Casual Locum Veterinary Nurse, you'll be relied upon to provide experienced nursing support across a range of clinic environments.

We're looking for someone who can confidently integrate into existing teams and contribute from day one, often with minimal supervision.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting veterinarians during consultations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
• Preparing patients for surgery and assisting in theatre
• Monitoring anaesthesia and supporting post-operative recovery
• Administering medications and treatments
• Collecting samples and performing diagnostic testing
• Providing hospital and inpatient care
• Assisting with emergency and urgent care cases when required
• Maintaining patient records and treatment plans
• Providing exceptional client communication and education
• Supporting reception and administrative duties when needed
• Maintaining hygiene, infection control, and clinical standards throughout the clinic

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
• Has 2 - 3 + years of clinical veterinary nursing experience
• Is confident across medical, surgical, and hospital nursing
• Can work independently and use initiative
• Is comfortable stepping into unfamiliar clinic environments and adapting quickly
• Has excellent anaesthetic monitoring skills
• Demonstrates strong communication and customer service skills
• Is organised, reliable, and professional
• Enjoys working collaboratively with a variety of teams
• Holds a current driver's licence and reliable transport
• Is willing to travel between clinics throughout the Brisbane West Region
