Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • An active Licensed Practical Nurse license within South Carolina or a compact state is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required, either from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers or an American Heart Association-recognized equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical job functions, including standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, reaching, repetitive fine and gross motor movements, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to maintain corrected 20/40 vision, recognize objects at varying distances, discriminate colors, determine depth and distance relationships, and maintain corrected hearing acuity.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment and maintain tactile and olfactory sensory functions.
  • Ability to qualify physically for respirator use initially and as required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care as a partner and adviser, supporting patients and families in managing their healthcare while respecting their culture, values, needs, goals, and treatment preferences.
  • Apply critical reasoning, clinical judgment, and critical thinking within the scope of practice to support appropriate care and treatment.
  • Assist medical staff with patient preparation, examinations, and procedures.
  • Interview and screen patients to obtain personal data and chief complaints.
  • Document patient information, findings, and care accurately and consistently in medical records according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Perform telephone and in-person screenings.
  • Record and report patient-care information relevant to the patient's healthcare status or plan of care.
  • Prioritize incoming patient phone calls concerning medications and medical conditions, and review them with providers as needed for orders or changes.
  • Clean and stock examination rooms and other supply areas.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of Licensed Practical Nurse experience is preferred.
