8am launches AI tools to make scanned legal documents searchable and cut manual work

8am, a professional business platform for legal and accounting firms, has launched enhanced AI capabilities for its 8am IQ product to address fragmented data challenges in legal work. The new features include 8am IQ Discovery Assistant, which uses optical character recognition to convert scanned documents and images into searchable text, and an upgraded 8am IQ Case Assistant. Discovery Assistant tackles a significant problem: 35% of documents uploaded to 8am's MyCase platform are image-based files previously invisible to search. The enhanced Case Assistant now draws insights from documents, client communications and financials, allowing legal professionals to quickly surface information across entire matters. Research shows legal professionals spend over 50 hours monthly searching for documents, with 61% of AI users reporting multiple hours saved weekly. Founded in 2005, 8am processes over $27 billion in payments annually and serves more than 270,000 professionals across North America.
