Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience with general MRI examinations, implants, elastography, and defecography is required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography is required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) is required, or must be obtained within 1 year in the position.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required from the American Heart Association or an American Red Cross CPR/AED program.
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful situations and communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical functions, including standing, walking, lifting, moving patients, using both hands and legs, maintaining vision and hearing, and performing repetitive and fine motor movements.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with lifting or moving patients weighing approximately 350 pounds.
  • Ability to be medically qualified for respirator use initially and annually.
Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols for physician interpretation.
  • Complete patient screening, examination documentation, and image verification in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Maintain image quality, productivity, and patient throughput standards.
  • Deliver safe, compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the imaging process.
  • Follow MRI safety protocols, including zone safety procedures, implant screening, and ferromagnetic safety practices.
  • Use the SHIELD reporting platform to document and escalate events outside normal clinical encounters.
  • Follow departmental policies, modality standards, and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Perform routine equipment quality-control checks and assist with troubleshooting and service-ticket submission.
  • Support onboarding, training, and education of staff and students.
  • Participate in performance-improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and patient, employee, and physician satisfaction.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-services, lunch-and-learns, and quality-improvement meetings.
  • Rotate to other locations as needed for training and staffing.
