Requirements
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Two years of experience in journey-level installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of electronic equipment, systems, and components.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • Perform journey-level testing, repair, inspection, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems to meet NFPA codes using hand tools and monitoring devices.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on fire sprinkler systems.
  • Provide information to management for new projects and deferred maintenance planning.
  • Review designs and maintain documentation to ensure compliance with NFPA codes and university construction standards.
  • Maintain inventory control and inspect test equipment for safe and proper operation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Coordinate work with outside contractors.
  • Perform work from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned and participate in the on-call program.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate's degree in a technical field.
  • Knowledge of the Fire Water Distribution Loop and fire sprinkler products.
  • More than two years of journey-level installation, repair, maintenance, and operation experience.
  • Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Computer skills.
  • NICET Certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems and/or Water-Based Systems Layout.
  • Master Plumber License.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Successful completion of the Leader Development Program.
