Requirements
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of mortgage or lending adjudication experience.
  • Experience in the mortgage broker channel is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and SharePoint; Google Workspace, including Google Drive, Sheets, and Docs; customer relationship management systems; and workflow tools such as Salesforce.
  • Strong understanding of insurer, internal, and external guidelines, including fraud implications, fraud detection methodologies, and risk mitigation.
  • Analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in mortgage underwriting.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, prioritize urgent applications, and make recommendations when required.
  • Ability to communicate findings effectively to management and underwriting teams.
  • Fluent bilingual ability in English and French is preferred to support clients nationwide.
Responsibilities
  • Review daily samples of mortgage applications before and after funding to ensure compliance with nesto Group policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess file data, financial documents, client information, broker and insurer transmissions, and legal documentation to identify policy deviations.
  • Identify unusual behavior, suspicious transactions, and invalid documentation using insurer Heads Up Files and internal referrals.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations and take necessary action on suspicious files to mitigate misrepresentation risk and loss.
  • Prepare quality assurance reports detailing findings and recommendations for suspicious or irregular activity files, and perform additional analysis as directed by Risk or Quality Assurance Management.
  • Support audits with partners, investors, and insurers from initial preparation through resolution of audit findings.
  • Assist with the management, periodic control, and review of approved lists for appraisers, solicitors, brokers, vendors, and anti-money-laundering lists.
  • Execute quality assurance and quality-control reviews regularly, promptly, efficiently, and objectively.
  • Provide guidance, opinions, and recommendations to underwriting staff and stakeholders on credit issues, loss mitigation, flood and property risk, and training opportunities.
