Requirements
  • At least 8 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally with experience of working in-house
  • A strong, broad understanding of financial products and how they work and interact (e.g. bonds, loans, derivatives, SFTs)
  • Derivatives experience within any product group is essential, with the 2006 / 2021 ISDA Definitions and the 2003 / 2014 ISDA Credit Definitions preferred
  • Experience of structuring complex transactions is preferred, including the underlying treatment of such trades (e.g. regulatory characterization, capital, credit, XVA)
  • Fluent in English (written and oral)
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Ability to work under pressure

Responsibilities
  • Bespoke financing structures, including repo financing, derivatives-based financing (particularly TRS), collateralisation structures, financial guarantees and margin loans
  • Technical elements of derivative documentation, including close-out provisions, optional and mandatory termination provisions, cash settlement calculations, and bespoke payoffs
  • Syndicated swap arrangements, e.g. risk participation agreements
  • Secured hedging, including being able to explain to stakeholders (in the business as well as other stakeholders such as Risk and ICM) the nuances of certain points and also to work with more junior colleagues on relevant points
  • Contingent hedging, including those relating to M&A, issuance, and project finance
  • Repackaging transactions across a variety of underlying product classes, including knowledge of relevant rules and exemptions, such as securities rules (144A, 4(a)(2), Reg S), investment company act exemptions (3a-7, 3(c)(1), 3(c)(7)), commodity pool exemptions and implications for US Risk Retention
  • Non-linear derivatives, particularly swaptions and inflation-based products
  • Advising on the 2006 and 2021 ISDA Definitions and the 2003 and 2014 ISDA Credit Definitions (as applicable)
  • General advice on disputes and queries arising from OTC transactions
  • Stable value
  • Regulatory aspects relating to the above, including applicable sections of Dodd Frank, Volcker, and other relevant regulations
  • Training and supporting colleagues on the above
  • Working on escalations with the Global Head of Rates & Markets Treasury Legal and, as relevant, the Global Head of Markets Legal
Desired Qualifications
  • Preference for a candidate with experience of working in-house
  • Experience of structuring complexes transactions and their regulatory treatment (capital, credit, XVA) would be desirable
  • Knowledge of both derivatives and Securities Financing Transactions (SFTs) would be advantageous
  • Experience with emerging/local market transactions and related regulatory considerations would be advantageous

Citigroup launches Custody+ platform to strengthen digital asset capabilities

Citigroup is expanding its digital asset infrastructure with the launch of Custody+, a new platform combining faster settlement, real-time asset servicing, foreign exchange, liquidity management and planned digital asset custody. The platform complements Citi Token Services, which enables round-the-clock transfers of tokenised deposits. Citigroup's Services segment showed strong momentum in the first half of 2026, with revenues up 17% year-on-year. Assets under custody rose 22% to approximately $35 trillion, whilst Securities Services deposits increased 15% to $165 billion. The bank invests over $2 billion annually in its Services platform. An initial Bitcoin offering is expected later in 2026. Morgan Stanley has also entered the space with the launch of Ethereum and Solana trusts.

BlackRock reaffirms 1-2% Bitcoin allocation as Citi launches crypto custody this year

Bitcoin tested $65,000 on Tuesday as two Wall Street institutions deepened their cryptocurrency commitments. BlackRock reiterated its recommendation for a 1–2% portfolio allocation to Bitcoin, arguing the recent selloff stemmed from forced selling rather than weakened fundamentals. The asset manager's iShares Bitcoin Trust held over $47 billion by March 2026. Meanwhile, Citi unveiled Custody+, a new platform that will offer Bitcoin custody alongside traditional assets later this year. The bank is investing over $2 billion annually in platform infrastructure covering more than 100 markets. Amit Agarwal, head of custody at Citi Investor Services, said the platform matches clients' strategy speeds. Bitcoin traded near $64,708 at press time, roughly 50% below its October 2025 peak.

Citi launches Custody+ with real-time solutions and Bitcoin custody after $2B annual platform investment

Citi Investor Services has launched Custody+, a suite of near- and real-time custody solutions designed for institutional investors navigating compressed settlement cycles and continuous markets. The announcement follows completion of the US rollout of Citi's patented Single Event Processing technology. Custody+ offers a modular ecosystem adaptable to client workflows at scale. Key capabilities include real-time asset servicing, which has reduced processing times for voluntary corporate actions by up to 92%, with 96% of US voluntary events now processed under two hours. The suite also features instant settlements, on-demand foreign exchange, and real-time cash and liquidity solutions. Citi expects to launch digital asset custody later this year, starting with Bitcoin. The bank invests over $2 billion annually in its platform strategy, supporting clients in over 100 markets worldwide.

Citigroup names Adam Clark wealth planning head after JP Morgan departure

Citigroup has appointed Adam Clark as head of wealth planning, according to an internal memo. Clark will join from J.P. Morgan, where he served as global head of Trusts and Estates, overseeing 500 staff across 40 offices worldwide. He replaces Mike Troth, who held the position on an interim basis. Clark is set to begin in November after completing garden leave and will be based in New York. At J.P. Morgan, Clark managed the bank's global trusts and estates operations and worked with ultra-high-net-worth clients on complex financial matters. Previously, he spent seven years at Goldman Sachs in roles including president of the Goldman Sachs Trust Company. Clark will report to Keith Glenfield, Citi Wealth's investment solutions head.
