  • Build credibility with customers, partners, investors, regulators, and prospective hires when senior technical leadership is required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Healthcare or pharmacy exposure and familiarity with regulated operations, such as clinical, pharmacy, payer/PBM, or analogous environments; alternatively, experience working in regulated or compliance-heavy environments.
  • Engineering leadership experience at an early-stage startup or in a similar fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Experience helping a company progress from founder-led or early technical development to a structured, scalable engineering organization.

About the company

MediCircle is a for-profit pharmacy that redistributes unopened, unused prescription medications from hospitals to patients at low or no cost. It collects sealed drugs (initially focusing on oral chemotherapies), recertifies them through licensed pharmacists, and ships them by mail after quality checks. Its platform catalogs each donation using GS1 barcodes and National Drug Codes (NDCs) to maintain a secure history and ensure compliance. Unlike many peers, MediCircle integrates with insurance formularies to negotiate discounts and does not charge patients, instead earning revenue by marking down the medication’s market value to insurers. The company also works with legislators to shape policy around pharmaceutical redistribution. Its goal is to reduce pharmaceutical waste, improve access to affordable medications, and create a scalable, compliant supply chain for medication redistribution.

What believers are saying

  • October 2026 site updates signal active patient demand and ongoing pharmacy operations.
  • MediCircle still advertises hospital partnerships and Texas Drug Donation Program participation.
  • Brown Venture Prize, Techstars, and Trog Hawley Capital validate the company early.

What critics are saying

  • MediCircle depends on Texas license 34472; board action shuts dispensing immediately.
  • Payer reimbursement for repurposed medicine remains thin; 2026 growth stalls without insurer adoption.
  • State-by-state redispensing laws block scale, and one legislative setback kills the model.

What makes MediCircle unique

  • Texas-licensed MediCircle recertifies unopened prescriptions through pharmacists and traceable software.
  • Jack Schaeffer and Eliza Sternlicht built a pharmacy plus policy machine.
  • MediCircle targets oral oncology waste, a high-value niche ignored by retail pharmacies.
