Requirements
  • A master's degree in nursing or a master's degree in physician assistant studies.
  • A State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license is required.
  • Employees must be vaccinated or have laboratory-confirmed immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella, and must receive an annual influenza vaccine or have an approved medical or religious exemption.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care to urology clinic patients as a PRN advanced practice provider.
  • Work with urology physicians to provide patient care, improve office efficiency, consultation, follow-up availability, and inpatient care.
  • Manage urologic medical care as a member of the clinical team.
  • Evaluate and review plans of care during regularly scheduled office visits using clinical judgment based on patients' physical, psychological, emotional, societal, and environmental needs.
  • Manage outpatient care by performing comprehensive histories and physical examinations, ordering laboratory and radiographic studies, interpreting results, performing in-office procedures, managing urology medications, making treatment decisions, and determining follow-up.
  • Provide inpatient care for hospitalized patients, including admissions, daily rounds, procedures, consultations, discharge planning, and coordination with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members.
  • Complete documentation of evaluations, care, and services in the electronic medical record to accurately reflect patient services and support appropriate billing.
  • Communicate with referring and primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
  • Respond to clinic patients' telephone inquiries and provide appropriate medical care or counseling.
  • Help individuals assume responsibility for illness prevention and health maintenance or restoration.
  • Follow Munson Healthcare advanced practice provider prescriptive authority guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of current medical trends and pursue ongoing professional development in pertinent medical fields.
  • Participate in or serve as a resource for medical, nursing, and community education programs.
  • Meet department productivity requirements and independently monitor the daily appointment schedule, working with staff to fill open appointment times.
  • Respond to medical emergencies as required.
