DNV enters strategic partnership with SSE on digital resilience and cybersecurity.

DNV enters strategic partnership with SSE on digital resilience and cybersecurity. How can organizations make sound decisions when cyber threats, geopolitical uncertainty, and technological change make the environment increasingly unpredictable? The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) and DNV will explore this question through a new five-year partnership. A global thought leader on assurance and risk management, the Norwegian company DNV will become a long-term partner of the Center for Security and Resilience at SSE under a five-year partnership agreement. This initiative comes as a response to an increasingly complex risk environment. Digitalization and emerging technologies create new opportunities, but also new vulnerabilities. At the same time, organizations face cyber threats, geopolitical tensions, and growing interdependencies between critical systems. As a result, digital resilience, the ability to withstand and recover quickly from cyber incidents, outages and technology failures, has become a strategic priority for organizations worldwide. "The Stockholm School of Economics has been an early mover in developing research and academic programs in digital resilience and cybersecurity. What makes SSE particularly interesting to us is how it connects these fields with governance and decision-making," says Klas Bendrik, Chief Digital and Development Officer at DNV. "This intersection is where many of the most important challenges facing organizations today can be found." When security becomes a leadership responsibility. The partnership will connect academic research with experience from the business community. DNV will contribute insights from its work in technology, security, risk management, and trust across industries and markets. "In a rapidly changing world, companies need to remain resilient even when conditions shift quickly. This partnership will allow us to deepen our understanding of what makes organizations resilient and how leaders and boards can put that knowledge into practice," says Lars Strannegård, President of the Stockholm School of Economics. For DNV, the partnership also marks a further development of the company's research collaborations. DNV has a long history of working with universities. DNV makes resilience a key component of its approach to risk management, focusing on it as a necessity when facing new digital threats. No organization can expect to defend against every cyber-attack, committing to resilience planning is key. "Technology alone cannot make an organization resilient," Klas Bendrik says. "How organizations are governed, how leaders set priorities, and how decisions are made under uncertainty are becoming increasingly important. We want to contribute to research that can give organizations a stronger foundation for navigating this reality." Executing on Nordic collaboration. The partnership will also strengthen interaction between academia, business, and society across the Nordic region. This is particularly relevant at a time when cybersecurity, preparedness, and societal resilience are becoming increasingly important. In addition to joint research projects, the partnership will also strengthen several other initiatives within the Stockholm School of Economics and the Center for Security and Resilience. Among other things, it will contribute to the newly created Nordic Defense MBA program and the Nordic Security and Competitiveness Day hosted every year in November at SSE. "Both DNV and SSE are Nordic leaders within their respective fields. Through this partnership, we want to accelerate Nordic collaboration," says Lars Strannegård. "A scientific approach is the base for awareness and action within the important fields of digital resilience and cybersecurity." With DNV's global footprint and trusted technical expertise Aquabench will be even better positioned to drive innovation and further development, while maintaining its independence, customer proximity and deep understanding of the local industry. Aquabench holds a unique position in the Chilean aquaculture industry as a neutral and collaborative information platform, built on an extensive database of production, environmental and fish health data. Integrity and responsible handling of information will remain fundamental principles for the business. DNV and Aquabench also confirm their shared commitment to the highest standards of confidentiality, data security and data governance, ensuring both the protection of customers' sensitive information and compliance with applicable competition law. "Chile is one of the world's most important producers of high value seafood, and the investment in Aquabench reflects DNV's long-term commitment to supporting the sustainable development of the industry. With DNV as a majority owner, Aquabench will have an even stronger foundation for developing new offerings and delivery models, continuing to be a strategic support for the Chilean aquaculture industry and adjacent sectors," said Geir Fuglerud, CEO Life Sciences at DNV. As part of DNV's global ecosystem, Aquabench will be able to contribute to faster development of innovative services in areas such as fish health, biosecurity environmental analytics, and sustainability. One particularly important area will be the further development of collaborative fish health projects, which can create new opportunities for knowledge sharing and help address common challenges through development of best practice across markets and regions. Digitalization will be central to this new phase. Through DNV's global experience in risk management, technology and assurance, Aquabench will be able to develop digital solutions faster and to a higher standard. This will provide customers with more reliable information, more efficient processes and a stronger basis for decision-making, while giving companies deeper insight into production and operational conditions based on robust data and advanced analytics. By combining the company's local expertise and insight with DNV's global capabilities, we see significant opportunities to accelerate innovation, digitalization and knowledge-sharing for the benefit of customers in Chile and abroad," said Rikard Albrigtsen, International Business Development Lead at DNV. The investment also means that Aquabench becomes part of an international company and expert communities within aquaculture, technology and sustainability. This unlocks new opportunities for collaboration, knowledge transfer and synergies across markets and disciplines, with customer needs and the development of the Chilean aquaculture industry as the clear starting point. "Aquaculture companies are facing increasingly stringent requirements related to traceability, sustainability and operational efficiency. This investment gives us the opportunity to strengthen our role as an independent knowledge partner and offer the industry increasingly digital, precise and future-oriented solutions," said Joel Leal, General Manager of Aquabench. Preserving the trust and strong relationships Aquabench has built with its customers will remain a high priority. The investment will also support the further development of Salmobench, Aquabench's digital intelligence platform for the Chilean salmon industry, providing digital intelligence platform to support informed decisions throughout the value chain. The investment follows DNV's recent acquisition of a majority stake in Aqualis, a Chilean provider of aquaculture infrastructure inspection and certification services. Both investments reflect DNV's long-term commitment to Chile's aquaculture industry, strengthening its capabilities in infrastructure assurance, industry insight and digital decision support.

DNV expands aquaculture inspection and certification services in Chile.

DNV expands aquaculture inspection and certification services in Chile. Published: October 18, 2026 Reading time: 2 min. DNV has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Aqualis, a Chilean provider of aquaculture infrastructure inspection and certification services. The acquisition will expand DNV's assurance capabilities in Chile, one of the world's leading aquaculture-producing countries, and strengthen its ability to help producers meet changing regulatory requirements through inspection and certification of critical infrastructure. Aqualis is authorized by Chile's National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) to provide certification under Standard 1821. The company operates across all three of Chile's principal sea-based aquaculture regions and serves many of the country's largest salmon producers. Since its establishment, Aqualis has developed a reputation as a partner to the industry through its focus on quality, transparency and technical expertise. Its inspection and certification services combine specialist knowledge with advanced inspection technology in an integrated business designed to scale with customer demand. As regulatory scrutiny increases and expectations around infrastructure integrity, transparency and certification evolve, Chile's aquaculture sector is facing growing demand for comprehensive assurance services. "Chile is one of the world's most important aquaculture producers and continues to play a leading role in the industry's development," said Geir Fuglerud, CEO of Life Sciences at DNV. "As regulatory expectations continue to evolve, producers increasingly need assurance partners that combine technical expertise, operational scale and digital innovation. Robust infrastructure assurance underpins sustainable operations, supports fish welfare and helps build confidence across the aquaculture value chain. Aqualis has built an impressive reputation as a key business partner to many of Chile's leading producers, and together we are strengthening our ability to support a safe, sustainable and trusted aquaculture industry." DNV said the acquisition will strengthen the support available to producers as they manage infrastructure risks and demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements. "Effective infrastructure assurance is about much more than meeting regulatory requirements. It provides operators with confidence that critical assets are performing as intended, while giving them the insight needed to manage risk proactively. We can help producers make better-informed decisions, strengthen asset integrity and support safe, reliable operations throughout the lifecycle of their farms," said Rikard Albrigtsen, International Business Development Lead at DNV. Aqualis's service offering includes a proprietary digital platform that gives customers access to inspection findings, infrastructure status, certificates and historical records for each farming site. The platform provides traceability across inspections and enables producers to track infrastructure conditions, demonstrate regulatory compliance and improve oversight of their assets. It is also designed to streamline certification throughout the lifecycle of aquaculture infrastructure. "Joining DNV marks an exciting milestone for Aqualis," said Nicolas Mayer-Rechnitz de Petris, Managing Director of Aqualis. "Since our establishment, our ambition has been to deliver a more transparent approach to aquaculture infrastructure assurance. Becoming part of DNV allows us to build on that vision by combining our local expertise with DNV's global assurance experience, creating even greater value for customers as regulatory expectations continue to evolve." The acquisition will combine Aqualis's local market knowledge and digital inspection capabilities with DNV's international assurance experience, broadening the services available to Chilean aquaculture producers as regulatory and operational requirements develop.

Co-led by DNV and Dr. Haris Shuaib of Newton's Tree, the course provides healthcare executives and operational leaders with practical guidance on AI implementation, governance, patient safety and risk management. Through real-world case studies and structured exercises, participants learn how to apply ISO 9001 quality management principles to evaluate organizational use cases, establish effective oversight and develop an actionable plan for the responsible adoption and ongoing monitoring of AI-enabled technologies. As AI becomes increasingly embedded in healthcare workflows, organizations must balance opportunities for improved efficiency, decision-making and care delivery with considerations related to patient safety, regulatory compliance, accountability and organizational risk. The course is intended to help leaders translate broad AI principles into governance structures, controls and management practices that can be applied within their organizations. "Healthcare leaders understand that AI is rapidly becoming part of their organizations, but many are still determining how best to govern its use responsibly," said Alex Imperial, Global Director of Healthcare, DNV. "The opportunities are significant, but so are the questions surrounding accountability, oversight, risk management and patient safety. This program combines clinical AI expertise with proven governance and management-system principles to help organizations build the knowledge and frameworks needed to adopt AI with confidence." The curriculum addresses executive accountability, organizational readiness, governance structures and the differing risk profiles of healthcare AI applications. Participants examine how management-system approaches, including principles reflected in ISO 9001, can support proportionate controls, performance monitoring and continual improvement throughout the AI lifecycle. The course builds on a broader collaboration between DNV and Newton's Tree, combining DNV's expertise in healthcare accreditation, quality management, governance, digital health and risk-based approaches with Newton's Tree's experience in clinical healthcare AI implementation.
