Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience in a hospital administrative environment are required.
  • Intermediate computer and personal computer knowledge is required, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven office environment where privacy and confidentiality are critical, both independently and in teams.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and provide proof of Tdap and influenza vaccinations before employment and update them as required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged periods, and twist, bend, and squat periodically.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a National Agency Check with Inquiries to gain facility access.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this location.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and receive patients, verify eligibility in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System using two forms of identification, verify appointments, enter patient data into MHS Genesis, and validate military orders and authorization letters.
  • Manage the appointment line and facilitate patient reception and appointment processing, escalating eligibility issues to clinic management.
  • Process administrative paperwork regarding insurance, third-party liability, and other designated insurance coverage.
  • Complete admission and third-party insurance forms, contact an admission clerk when documentation is complete, and close the emergency department record in MHS Genesis before admission.
  • Use medical terminology, clinic procedures, and appointment templates to book and schedule appointments and route requests for patient activities or procedures.
  • Coordinate routine patient transfers from the emergency department to other healthcare facilities, including locating an accepting physician and hospital and obtaining administrative approval.
  • Complete transfer documentation and ensure consults, electrocardiograms, and continuation sheets are attached to the emergency-room copy.
  • Collect and verify third-party insurance data, conduct follow-up interviews, copy insurance cards, and update information in MHS Genesis.
  • Query patients about demographic accuracy, update addresses, telephone numbers, and insurance information, and distribute completed forms for filing and billing.
  • Provide TRICARE informational brochures and direct interested personnel to the TRICARE Office.
  • Review and update patient demographic files during Continuous Operating Procedures, clarify patient data, ensure registration accuracy, and correct MHS Genesis registration problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on the department.
  • Work five eight-hour shifts weekly on the third shift, from 2215 to 0615, with coverage scheduled Sunday through Saturday.
