Requirements
  • A nursing degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • At least two years of experience, preferably in a long-term care facility, is preferred.
  • Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices is required.
  • The candidate must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English; read technical procedures; comprehend policy and procedure manuals; and present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • The candidate must apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • The candidate must make independent decisions, solve practical problems, and exercise tact when dealing with personnel, residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and the public.

  • The candidate must be able to move intermittently, function independently, cope with mental and emotional stress, and work effectively with residents and personnel.
  • The candidate must be able to push, pull, move, or lift at least 25 pounds to a height of five feet and carry it at least 50 feet, including assisting with resident evacuation when necessary.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during the assigned tour of duty in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day nursing functions of the long-term care facility.
  • Develop, maintain, and update written policies and procedures for the nursing service department.
  • Maintain current reference materials and ensure that the Nursing Service Procedures Manual reflects current nursing procedures.
  • Ensure nursing service personnel comply with the Nursing Service Procedures Manual and their respective job descriptions.
  • Prepare written and oral reports and recommendations concerning nursing service operations.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to maintain continuity of care.
  • Participate in the nursing service quality assurance program and facility surveys conducted by authorized government agencies.
  • Review and update resident discharge plans and assist with the nursing-services portion of those plans.
  • Meet with nursing staff and support personnel to plan departmental services, programs, and activities.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents and complete accident or incident reports as required.
  • Interpret departmental policies and procedures for personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies.
  • Complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and clinical documentation.
  • Protect resident and facility information by maintaining confidentiality, safeguarding passwords, and reporting unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • Attend facility committee meetings, prepare reports, provide information to the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee, and implement committee recommendations.
  • Ensure adequate licensed nurse and certified nursing assistant staffing for the assigned tour of duty.
  • Develop work assignments and delegate administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability to Charge Nurses.
  • Ensure nurse aide trainees receive required direct supervision and nursing assistants are enrolled in or have completed approved training.
  • Conduct daily rounds, monitor absenteeism, review complaints and grievances, evaluate departmental workforce, and report findings to the Director.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine shift staffing requirements, and make recommendations concerning employee dismissals and transfers.
  • Provide direct nursing care; make rounds with physicians; monitor residents; assess changes in condition; and coordinate resident care with residents, families, physicians, and next of kin.
  • Review nurses' notes, care plans, medication cards, treatments, and physician orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Start intravenous lines, obtain laboratory specimens, take vital signs, monitor medication passes and treatment schedules, and authorize restraints when appropriate.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary nursing areas and ensure compliance with hand hygiene, infection control, safety, fire, disaster preparedness, and personal protective equipment procedures.
  • Maintain adequate medication, medical supply, and equipment stock; support preventive maintenance; and ensure safe, authorized equipment operation.
  • Participate in resident assessments and care plans, including Minimum Data Set processes, and ensure care is delivered according to each resident's plan and wishes.
  • Recommend nursing-service equipment and supply needs and report suspected fraud involving false billings, cost reports, or kickbacks.
  • Develop and participate in in-service training and continuing education programs, including training related to occupational safety, tuberculosis, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements, abuse prevention, safety, and infection control.
  • Report occupational exposures, hazardous conditions, infectious diseases, equipment issues, and incidents of fraud in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Notify families of resident deaths and arrange funeral-home contact when requested.

  • Knowledge and experience with PCC are preferred.
  • Experience in a long-term care facility is preferred.

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
